Hotel Avion Overview

You know what surprised me about Hotel Avion? It’s actually got this whole retro aviation theme going on that could’ve been cheesy, but somehow they pulled it off without making it feel like a kids’ playground. The place sits on Kladenská street, which honestly isn’t the most glamorous address in Prague – it’s sort of tucked away in the Smíchov area – but that’s exactly why it works.

I mean, you’re not paying Old Town prices here, but you’re still only about fifteen minutes from the action by tram. The 12 and 20 lines run pretty regularly, and there’s this little grocery store right around the corner that becomes your best friend when you realize hotel breakfast gets old after day three. The rooms are clean and actually bigger than what you’d expect from a 3-star place – I had enough space to spread out my stuff without living out of a suitcase the whole time. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, though the pillows are a bit soft if you’re used to firmer ones. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being near a main street would mean traffic noise, but the windows do their job well.

The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given at this price point. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk guy actually gave me solid recommendations for places to eat that weren’t just tourist traps. That 8.4 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the basics really well. The breakfast is decent (nothing fancy, but the coffee’s strong and there’s enough variety to keep you happy), and they’ve got this small lobby area where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving – street parking mostly, but the neighborhood feels safe walking around even in the evening. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience Prague more like a local and less like someone checking boxes off a tourist list.

  The hotel exceeded our expectations. While a little old fashioned, it was pleasant, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, breakfast yummy and plentiful. Even our dinner at the hotel restaurant was delicious.

  Great location and very clean room and hotel. Very helpful staff. Restaurant served amazing food, particularly the baked Gouda with home made tartar sauce.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom was minuscule and we had to shimmy round the door to close it, also the restaurant had a lovely outdoor terrace that was totally ruined as they allow smoking on it!!

  Reception staff was amazing, helpful, fluent in English, and with a positive attitude.

  What could be improved: I only asked for one cleaning during my week-long stay, and the bedding wasn't changed, nor cleaned – I could see my hair after the cleaning.
  The shower wasn't cleaned during my stay – I could see it through the stains from shampoo and where everything stayed.
  The floor wasn't vacuumed either.
  
  When I checked in, there was no shampoo in the bathroom, but it was added during this cleaning.
  
  Also, when ordering a king-size bed, I hope for one, not just two singles put together, but that's a detail

  Convenient location, very comfortable bed, helpful staff. We had to leave early for the airport, so the hotel provided a good packed breakfast for us. Very helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Steps into the restaurant – part of an attractive circular feature – were unfortunately rather tricky for one of us with moderate walking difficulties to negotiate. A couple of handrails would help.
