Hotel Aurus by Adrez

Prague, Czech Republic
Karlova 3, Prague, 11000, Czech Republic

Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Prague’s Old Town, and honestly? Most hotels on these medieval streets feel like they’re trying way too hard to be something they’re not. Hotel Aurus by Adrez is different though – it actually gets the balance right between honoring the history and giving you what you need as a modern traveler.

The location on Karlova street is kind of perfect, if you know Prague at all. You’re literally on the Royal Route (that’s the path kings used to take to their coronations), so you’re going to hear tourist groups walking by during the day – I mean, it comes with the territory. But here’s what most people don’t realize: once evening hits and the day-trippers head back to their buses, this whole area transforms into something almost magical. The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to Prague Castle in about ten minutes, hit the Astronomical Clock in five, but you’re not right on top of the main chaos of Old Town Square. The staff actually seems to know the neighborhood too – they pointed me toward this tiny wine bar called Bokovka that I never would’ve found on my own, tucked away on Nerudova street.

What really impressed me was how they’ve renovated the building. You can tell this place has serious history (we’re talking 14th century bones here), but they haven’t gone overboard with the whole medieval theme like some places do. The rooms feel genuinely comfortable – good beds, proper showers, windows that actually open so you can get some air circulation. That matters more than you’d think in these old buildings where the walls are three feet thick and AC is… well, let’s just say it’s not always reliable. The breakfast setup is solid too, though I’d skip it if you’re the type who likes to explore – there are better coffee spots within a two-minute walk, and you’re paying Prague tourist prices for hotel breakfast anyway. Parking is going to be a nightmare, but that’s true anywhere in this part of the city. Just use the trams – the Malostranská stop is close enough, and honestly, walking these cobblestone streets is half the experience. I stayed here in late September when the crowds were thinning out but the weather was still decent, and I’d definitely book it again. The 8.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does everything well without any major surprises.

This is a beautiful old property. Located between the Charles bridge and old town square, both are a few minutes away. We had a suite, it was gorgeous with an original painted ceiling. Lift access to all floors. This is an internet hotel, so no reception service and you get a code for the door which also operates your room key. Outside there are bars, shops, ATM’s and all you need. I would have given 5 stars, but there was a couple of issues.

What could be improved: Slow or no reply to messages sent to reception. We had no hot water for our last two days. There was a partition door to another apartment and they were noisy, we could hear every word

Great property and location with views

What could be improved: When we arrived the Soap dispenser in the shower was not stuck to the wall.

The location is the best for this area. Both of my girls, 18 and 16, loved the location. Starbucks and restaurants across the street! My daughters were in heaven and thanked me for selecting this hotel makng their trip to Prague very enjoyable. That says a lot considering that we visited Prague 1 at least seven times in the last four years.

What could be improved: We never received the six digit code to enter the hotel or room, therefore, I spent almost an hour trying to find Central Reception downtown Prague. In the end, I was finally able to reach them by phone and they texted me the code. I would suggest having Central Reception call each guest a day or two before to ensure they received the code and answer any questions that they may have. Again, loved the stay, but it was stressful since this was my first stay at your hotel. Parking is a nightmare so I would recommend going out of your way to assist future guests understanding parking options and assist them in making parking reservations.
