You know what’s funny about Hotel Arko? From the outside, it looks like just another business hotel in Prague’s Vysočany district – nothing flashy, honestly pretty understated. But once you actually stay there, you realize that’s kind of the point. The place sits on Vysočanská street, which I’ll be real with you, isn’t exactly the postcard-pretty part of Prague most tourists see. It’s more like where actual Praguers live and work, and there’s something refreshing about that.

The thing is, being in Vysočany means you’re about a 15-minute metro ride from Old Town (the yellow line is your friend here), but your evening stroll takes you past normal Czech pubs and corner shops instead of tourist traps selling overpriced goulash. I mean, there’s a Tesco right down the street if you need to grab snacks or forgot your phone charger – try finding that convenience near the astronomical clock. The rooms themselves are, well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid three-star place. Clean, comfortable beds that don’t creak when you move, decent water pressure in the shower, and windows that actually block out street noise pretty well. The décor won’t win any design awards – think modern but safe, with that sort of beige-and-brown palette that hotels love – but honestly, after a day of walking Prague’s cobblestones, you just want somewhere comfortable to crash.

What actually surprised me was the breakfast setup. They do this continental spread that’s way better than it needs to be – proper Czech pastries alongside the usual hotel fare, and the coffee is actually drinkable (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given at this price point). The staff has this no-nonsense efficiency that I’ve come to associate with Prague hotels; they’re helpful without being overly chatty, and most speak solid English. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit drama or confusing key card situations. Look, Hotel Arko isn’t going to be the highlight of your Prague trip, but it does exactly what a good hotel should do – gives you a comfortable base without breaking the bank or creating any headaches. The 7.7 rating makes sense; it’s above average without being fancy, reliable without being boring. If you’re the type who’d rather spend money on good dinners and museum tickets instead of thread counts and marble bathrooms, this place gets it. Plus, staying in Vysočany gives you bragging rights about experiencing “real Prague” – even if you’re still totally a tourist taking photos of every church you pass.

Visitors often choose Prague apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Bohemian capital.

  Comfy and big rooms, nice and quick to respond staff, very close to the subway station, insanely good value for the money. Parking plots were available, locks were all in place and security seemed high. Looks better in person than on the photos!

  Room was clean and prepared, I had to do self check-in, and it went smooth.
  I had the shower in a bathroom and additional bath in a bedroom. I didn't mind, but it was funny. 😀
  
  What could be improved: I was in room 1, which is exactly next to hotel entrance stairs, and in the morning, you hear every door closing and suitcase hopping on the stairs straight in your bed. 🙁 Everything else was great. 🙂
