The tram connections are fantastic – you can get to Wenceslas Square in maybe 15 minutes, but when you come back at night, you’re in this quieter area where locals actually live and work.

The building itself has that clean, modern Czech aesthetic that’s become pretty popular in Prague’s newer hotels. Nothing too flashy, but everything works properly (which, let me tell you, isn’t always a given). The rooms have this minimalist thing going on – good quality beds, decent-sized bathrooms, and these big windows that actually open, which I always appreciate. What I really liked was how quiet it gets at night. Strakonická can have some traffic during the day, but it’s not one of those main arteries that never sleeps. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions – they knew the neighborhood well enough to suggest this great little pub around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. The breakfast situation was solid without being over the top, and they had proper coffee, which matters more than it should when you’re dealing with Prague’s cobblestones all day.

Here’s the thing about staying in Smichov – you get to see how regular Prague works. There’s a big shopping center (Nový Smíchov) within walking distance if you need anything, and the whole area has this lived-in feel that the city center sometimes lacks. Plus, honestly, the value is better. You’re getting 4-star comfort without paying those premium prices you’d shell out for something comparable near the castle or on the Royal Route. The hotel’s 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the most luxurious place in Prague, but it delivers on what it promises. If you’re the type who wants to explore beyond the main tourist circuit during the day but still have a comfortable, well-run place to come back to, HONEST Smichov hits that sweet spot. Just don’t expect concierge service or a lobby bar – this is more about getting the fundamentals right, which they definitely do.
