Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Historic Centre Residence? It’s tucked away on Vejvodova street in a way that feels perfectly Prague – you’re literally in the thick of Old Town, but the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that you just don’t get at those big chain places right on the tourist strips. I mean, you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock, but somehow you’ve found this little pocket of quiet that most visitors never discover.

The building itself has that solid, lived-in feeling that only comes with actual history – not the fake “historic charm” you see elsewhere. The rooms are honestly what you’d expect from a well-run 3-star place, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier spots I’ve stayed at in Prague. What really impressed me was how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. The guy at reception (I think his name was Pavel?) didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he marked out this little route to avoid the crowds when walking to Charles Bridge in the morning, and pointed out a grocery store on Rybná that stays open late, which honestly saved me when I needed supplies on a Sunday evening.

Here’s the thing about the location that you won’t realize until you’re there – Vejvodova connects you to everything without putting you in the middle of the chaos. You can walk to Wenceslas Square in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the street noise and crowds that come with staying right on the main drags. I actually slept really well there, which surprised me because Prague’s old town can get pretty lively at night. The neighborhood has this nice mix too – there are locals going about their daily business, not just tour groups, so you get places like that little café on the corner where they make proper Czech coffee and don’t automatically switch to English when you walk in.

One small thing that made a difference – the WiFi actually works well throughout the building (I was working remotely for part of my stay), and they have this tiny courtyard area where you can sit with a drink in the evening. Nothing spectacular, but it’s nice to have a quiet spot to decompress after spending the day navigating cobblestone streets and tourist sites. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises and does it well. For the price point and location, you’re getting solid value without any unpleasant surprises, which in my experience is actually pretty rare in Prague’s city center.

Reviews

  • Would stay again – Matthew from United Kingdom – 26 July 2025 (9/10)

Easy place to stay in the middle of Prague. Super easy to walk to the river or main streets. It was kind of like a mini apartment, even providing cutlery and a communal fridge and microwave. I didn't need to interact with any staff during the stay. The room was clean, cozy, and in good condition. Would definitely stay again.

What could be improved: The things that are a little funky are:
    1. They strongly insist that tourist tax isn't an extra fee which is just a weird lie. It's cheap and I expected to need to pay it anyway so it didn't matter.
    2. They say that anything less than a 9 on booking.com is a bad review to trick people. Not a fan of that.

Being in a small alleyway, there was some drunken shouting outside during the night, but I didn't find it too bad.

  • Superb – Karl from United States – 12 July 2025 (9/10)

    Small.but totally sufficient. Super location!

What could be improved: No soap dish in shower

  • Exceptional – Hisham from France – 2 July 2025 (10/10)

I am very pleased with my stay at Historic Center Residence in Prague. The check-in and check-out instructions were very clear, which made everything smooth. When I needed to extend my stay, the staff was extremely helpful and professional—I would give her 15 out of 10! The place is clean, easily reachable, and in a great location. Highly recommend if you want a stress-free stay in Prague.

What could be improved: For people who don’t like to deal with reception and check-in/out procedures, this is a perfect place. The instructions were very clear, and it was easy to get in and out without hassle. However, when I needed to deal with the reception (because I made a mistake while booking), it was a bit inconvenient to go to another building, but the staff was extremely helpful and professional, handling my extension quickly.

  • Fantastic place to stay in the centre of Prague! – Richardk77 from Spain – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

The location was fantastic. Close to the touristy parts, and close to metro and tram stops.

I didn't travel to Prague as a tourist as I'm half Czech, I was there for my daughter's graduation, so the location was important for me, so I could get to where I needed to quickly.

  • Very good hotel for visit the Prague city – Marco from Italy – 4 June 2025 (10/10)

The position It's very good. ubicated at the city centre, near the clock Square, this hotel It's very clean and the staff are quikly for answer at the question

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Can recommend – Eszter from Hungary – 4 June 2025 (10/10)

Nice, cozy apartment in a good location. Plates, bowls, glasses available to have a quick breakfast. Fridge is downstairs shared with all the residents which is a bit uncomfortable. Elevator is in place to reach the attic rooms. Access was contactless.

What could be improved: Received the message on the day of the arrival to leave the city tax fee (50CZK) in cash inside the apartment. It was a short trip with barely any time to do anything unplanned, so it was very annoying to deal with this and the ATM charged me 100CZK to withdraw the 50CZK.

  • Superb – Oltea from Netherlands – 1 June 2025 (9/10)

Clean, close to all touristic attractions

What could be improved: Room is very small

  • Superb – Mark from Spain – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

    Great location, nice room

What could be improved: Fridge was 3 floors down.

  • Superb – Fletcher from Australia – 26 April 2025 (9/10)

The location was fantastic and check in was so easy; the instructions were so simple and easy to follow.

  • Comfortable, clean and easy. – Filip from Poland – 5 March 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location, very close to the main square, comfortable bed and really nice staff in the reception

What could be improved: It was a bit chilly in the morning, but there is a little electric radiator provided so it helped.
