You know what struck me first about Historic Centre Apartments VIII? The building itself – I mean, you’re literally staying in a piece of Prague’s history on Karlova Street, which honestly feels like stepping into a medieval fairy tale every time you walk out the front door. The address might just say “32/161” but locals know this stretch connects directly to the famous Golden Lane area, and you’re maybe a three-minute stumble from Charles Bridge (trust me, I timed it after a few Czech beers).

The apartments themselves are pretty solid for a 3-star place – nothing fancy, but everything actually works, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet my room was considering you’re smack in the middle of tourist central; the thick old walls really do their job. The furnishing has that sort of Eastern European practical charm – clean, functional, with just enough character to remind you where you are without feeling like a museum. Check-in was smooth too, though the entrance can be a bit tricky to spot if you’re dragging luggage through those narrow cobblestone streets (pro tip: pack light or bring wheels that can handle medieval roads).

What really sells this place is the location – and I don’t mean that in the usual “convenient location” marketing nonsense way. I’m talking about stepping outside and being able to grab proper trdelník from the vendor on the corner, or ducking into that little wine bar just down toward Nerudova Street when the tourist crowds thin out around 8 PM. You’re close enough to everything that matters – Old Town Square, the Castle, Wenceslas Square – but far enough up Karlova that you avoid the worst of the cruise ship crowds that pile up near the bridge entrance. The rating of 8.6 feels about right; it’s not going to wow you with luxury, but honestly, when you’re spending your days wandering through one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, you just need a comfortable, well-located base. The morning light filtering through those old windows onto the cobblestones below? That’s worth the price alone.

    The reception is literally across the narrow pedestrian-only street, very nice and easy, pre-registering on line helped speed the process. Excellent location, a few blocks from St. Charles Bridge, a few blocks from the mail Old Town Square (opposite direction). Well appointed kitchen, nice sized rooms, huge bathroom, and the absolutely vital (to us), washing machine!

    The apartment is in the old town, so all the interesting places are near to it. It was a comfortable bedroom and a well equipped kitchen, bathroom.

    What could be improved: The apartment is not comfortable for 4 person. It shouldn’t be advertised for more then 2-3 person, because sofa is not comfortable at all, we could hardly sleep on it.

    Amazing apartment in the heart of Prague Old Town. Location is ideal, just next to the city's best attractions. Big rooms as shown in the photos, comfortable, with all necessary equipment and everything needed for a pleasant stay. Fair price and very friendly and kind people in the reception, willing to help. Will be the first choice the next time we will visit Prague!

    Great location. Walking distance to most of the city attractions.

    What could be improved: No elevator. We stayed on 2nd floor (3rd floor for USA) and carried large suitcases.. There’s another place to check in and/or to pick up the keys which is close anyway.
