I’ll be honest – when I first walked down Havelská street looking for these apartments, I almost missed the entrance entirely. It’s tucked into this narrow medieval street that looks like it hasn’t changed much since the 14th century, which is actually part of the charm once you realize what you’ve stumbled into. The building itself sits right in the thick of Prague’s Old Town, and I mean *right* in it – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock, though thankfully far enough away that you won’t hear the hourly tourist crowds at night.

What struck me most about Historic Centre Apartments II (yeah, the name’s not winning any creativity awards) is how they’ve managed to squeeze modern comfort into these ancient walls without making it feel like a theme park. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious – and trust me, space is premium real estate in this part of Prague. You’ve got proper kitchens, not those sad hotel kitchenettes, which honestly saved me a fortune since eating near Wenceslas Square every meal would’ve bankrupted me. The windows are thick enough to muffle most street noise, though you’ll still catch the occasional late-night reveler stumbling home from the pubs on Dlouhá street. Actually, that kind of adds to the atmosphere if you ask me.

The location is what really sells this place, though. You know how some hotels claim they’re “centrally located” and then you end up taking three trams just to see anything interesting? Not here. I could roll out of bed and be at Týn Church in five minutes, or wander over to that little wine bar on Kozí street (locals call it U Fleku, though that’s technically the brewery next door) whenever the mood struck. The Havelské Tržiště market happens literally outside your window on weekday mornings – which means fresh fruit for breakfast, but also means some early morning chatter if you’re not a morning person. The staff actually warned me about this during check-in, which I appreciated. They seem to know their guests aren’t all here for the 7 AM vegetable vendors shouting in Czech.

Parking is… well, forget about it unless you enjoy paying more for your car than your room. But honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. The metro station at Můstek is a pleasant five-minute walk, and from there you can reach anywhere in Prague without breaking a sweat. Plus, walking these cobblestone streets at night, especially when they’re lit up and mostly empty of tour groups, feels like stepping back in time. Just watch your step – those stones weren’t designed with modern footwear in mind.
