Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Green Garden Hotel on Fügnerovo náměstí – I mean, the name sounds pretty generic, right? But stepping inside, you immediately get why this place has that 9.2 rating. There’s this warm, lived-in elegance that feels authentically Prague without trying too hard. The lobby has these gorgeous old wooden beams mixed with modern touches, and you know what really got me? The staff actually remembered my name after one conversation. Not in that forced, corporate way, but like they genuinely cared about making sure I had a good stay.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it. Vinohrady is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss – you’re away from the chaos of Old Town but still just a quick tram ride to all the major sights. I’d walk out in the morning and grab coffee at this little place around the corner (the barista there makes incredible cortados), then wander through the tree-lined streets that give the area its character. Riegrovy sady park is literally a five-minute walk, and honestly, watching sunset over the city from there became my daily ritual. The hotel sits on a relatively quiet square, so you don’t get the constant tourist noise, but you’re close enough to Náměstí Míru that you can easily hop on the metro when you need to.

What really sets this place apart – and I’ve stayed at a lot of four-star hotels – is how they nail the details without making a big show of it. The rooms are spacious by Prague standards (which, let’s be real, isn’t saying much, but these actually are), and they’ve got this cozy, residential feel with quality linens and proper blackout curtains. The bathroom products smell amazing, sort of like cedar and bergamot. Check-in was smooth, parking is available if you’re driving (though honestly, you won’t need a car in this neighborhood), and the breakfast spread actually includes local specialties alongside the usual continental stuff. I mean, where else are you going to get proper Czech pastries and still have your standard eggs and bacon? The dining area overlooks a small garden – hence the name, I guess – and it’s surprisingly peaceful for being in the city. Staff gave me solid recommendations too, including this incredible wine bar on Korunní that I never would have found otherwise. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable asking for directions or restaurant suggestions because they clearly know the neighborhood inside and out.
