Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Grand Majestic? The location is honestly perfect – and I don’t say that lightly about Prague hotels. Truhlářská Street sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to Old Town Square to walk there in five minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups outside your window. I mean, you can actually sleep here, which is saying something in this city.
The building itself has this wonderful old-world thing going on – you walk into the lobby and there’s this immediate sense that you’re somewhere with actual history, not some cookie-cutter chain. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood too, which matters more than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Wenceslas Square without dealing with the crowds, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the main drag – he actually sketched out this little route through some side streets that locals use. That kind of detail makes a difference when you’re trying to see Prague without feeling like cattle.
The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully comfortable” – they’ve got that European sensibility where everything serves a purpose but still feels warm. The beds are actually firm (thank god), and honestly, the shower pressure was better than I expected. You’ll hear some street noise in the mornings since it’s still the city center, but nothing terrible – mostly just people heading to work, maybe some delivery trucks around 7 AM. What I really appreciated was how they handled the old building quirks – you know, those little irregularities that come with historic properties – without trying to over-modernize everything into sterility.
Here’s the thing about the Grand Majestic that really won me over: it feels like Prague, not like “international hotel in Prague.” The breakfast setup actually includes some local stuff alongside the usual continental spread, and they’ve got this small bar area where you can grab a proper Czech beer without paying tourist prices. The whole vibe is sort of… unpretentious? Like they’re confident enough in what they’re offering that they don’t need to oversell it. That 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it absolutely nails what most travelers actually want: a comfortable base that enhances your Prague experience rather than just housing you between sightseeing marathons.
If you’re the type who wants to feel connected to where you’re staying rather than insulated from it, this place gets it right. I’d definitely stay here again, which honestly isn’t something I say about most hotels.
Early hotels booking in Prague is essential during major events like the Prague Spring Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned classical music scene and Gothic architecture.

The lobby was really nice and had a very nice welcoming smell when you walked in. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were friendly and always very helpful. TV did keep losing signal which is why I didnt give 10. Overall, it was a great hotel and would definitely recommend.

We booked a room for three people and the room is big enough for us.
Friendly staff and the location is near to the city center.
It’s a bit far from the train station.
But everything was fine.O'reilly from Ireland – 26 March 2025 (9/10)

Sarah from United Kingdom – 26 March 2025 (9/10)
lovely hotel, clean room and comfortable bed. Great breakfast provided with fresh omelettes and waffles.
Close to city centre with old town square approx 10 minute walk.
Staff always friendly and welcoming.
What could be improved: Some sleep disturbance on our floor with guests slamming door and being noisy in corridor at 7am on a few days out of the 6 nights we stayed. This of course Is not the hotels fault but Signs reminding guests to be quiet may be a good idea.
