You know what struck me first about the Grand Hotel International? It’s tucked away on Koulova street in a way that feels both central and surprisingly quiet – honestly, I wasn’t expecting that combination in Prague. The building itself has this solid, understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier places around Wenceslas Square, but once you’re inside, you get why it’s part of Czech Leading Hotels.

The lobby hits that sweet spot between formal and welcoming. I mean, it’s polished enough that you feel like you’re staying somewhere special, but the staff actually remembers your name after day one (which, let’s be real, doesn’t always happen at four-star places). What really impressed me was how they handle the practical stuff – check-in was smooth even when I arrived early, and they sorted out restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps. Speaking of location, you’re genuinely well-positioned here. Hradčany and the castle are totally walkable if you don’t mind a bit of uphill action, and there’s a tram stop close by that’ll get you to Old Town in maybe ten minutes. The neighborhood itself is more residential than touristy, which means you can actually find a decent coffee shop that isn’t charging tourist prices – there’s this little place around the corner that locals frequent.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star, but with some thoughtful touches. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in European hotels, honestly), and the bathrooms are updated without being sterile. I stayed on the fourth floor and it was pretty quiet, even with windows open – though I’d imagine the lower floors might catch more street noise during busy periods. One thing I really appreciated was the WiFi actually working properly throughout the building, including the common areas. The breakfast setup is generous without being overwhelming, and they do this excellent local cheese selection that most international chains skip entirely. Honestly, with a 9.1 rating, my expectations were pretty high, and they delivered on most fronts. It’s not the kind of place that’ll blow you away with dramatic design or cutting-edge amenities, but it nails the fundamentals – comfortable rooms, genuinely helpful service, and a location that lets you experience Prague like someone who actually lives there rather than just checking boxes on a sightseeing list. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, this probably isn’t your spot, but if you want a reliable base for exploring the city with some actual local character, it’s hard to go wrong here.

  Best place to be if you're looking for a great view of the city prague at affordable price while sipping on cocktail.
  Very short under 4mins walk to tram stop to take you prague old town which was very convenient. The hotel exceeded my expectation and will definitely book again for my next visit to prague.
