Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Maiselova Street looking for the Golem – I mean, it’s tucked right in the heart of Prague’s Jewish Quarter, and honestly, a lot of hotels in touristy areas can be pretty disappointing. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The building itself has this understated charm that fits perfectly with the neighborhood’s vibe. You’re literally steps away from the Old Jewish Cemetery and the synagogues, which sounds like it could be overwhelming with tour groups, but the Golem manages to feel like a quiet refuge despite being right in the thick of things. The staff – and I’m not just saying this – actually seem to know Prague beyond the typical tourist script. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward Wenceslas Square like most places would. He gave me the tram route that locals use and mentioned this little wine bar I never would’ve found otherwise.
What really got me was the attention to small details that you don’t usually see at four-star places. The rooms aren’t huge (honestly, you’re in Prague’s old quarter, what do you expect?), but everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just crammed in. The beds are actually comfortable – I slept better there than I have at some five-star chains – and the bathrooms have this modern elegance without trying too hard to be trendy. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t feel the need to assault you with marble and gold everywhere. The breakfast room overlooks a quiet courtyard, and in the mornings you can hear the city waking up without feeling like you’re in the middle of a construction zone. I mean, Prague can get pretty noisy, especially during summer when the crowds are intense, but the Golem’s location on Maiselova keeps you close enough to walk everywhere while still being able to actually sleep at night.
What sealed the deal for me was realizing how perfectly positioned you are for exploring beyond the obvious tourist stuff. Sure, you can walk to Old Town Square in about five minutes, but you’re also right there for wandering into Letná Park or catching a concert at the Rudolfinum without dealing with the hassle of getting back to some hotel across the river. The whole Josefov district has this incredible energy once the day-trip crowds thin out – there’s something almost mystical about walking these streets in the early evening when the light hits the old buildings just right. And honestly, with a 9.6 rating, I expected good service, but the team here goes beyond that. They remember your name, they actually listen when you ask for recommendations, and they seem genuinely invested in making sure you experience Prague the way it deserves to be experienced, not just the postcard version.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Prague through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich medieval heritage.

Phenomenal stay! The host set out all kinds of treats, stocked the mini fridge with water, a pilsner and a bottle of bubbly.
Room was clean, modern, and well set up.
Location was excellent smack dab in the middle of the Jewish Quarter, we were able to walk everywhere very comfortably.
For the price this was a 10/10.
What could be improved: Only issue was noise, but we've lived in major cities before so wasn't a big deal. But, if you struggle sleeping with street noise this might not be the ideal spot.Noa from Israel – 9 March 2025 (9/10)
Very nice hotel in a great part of the city very clean, quiet and private

Apartment is in the center of old town, you can reach everywhere easily just by walking. the christmas markets, lovely cafes and restaurants were just 5 minutes away. room was so clean and tidy, the heating was great! in the middle of winter we always felt warm when we were in the room. also its the first time i’ve seen so much treats in a room for guests, that was so kind.
and also special thanks to owner for always being in contact all the time. i will recommend this place to friends planning to visit prague.Anita from United Kingdom – 9 December 2024 (9/10)
Lovely apartment within walking distance of the Old Town Square. It was clean and warm with everything we needed. The host had put a lot of effort into the little touches, a cake, snacks & drinks to make you feel welcome. Would highly recommend.

Nice location
Marjeta from Albania – 17 September 2024 (9/10)
The bedroom was really comfy and had a nice view from the window. The location was really close to the Old town square and main tourists attractions. The apartmant was situated in a really nice quarter.
What could be improved: We didn't receive all the instructions at the beginning . Booking sent us only 1 picture which made us struggle finding the key and had to wait almost 40 min. outside. After sending the email to the owner he was communicative, reachable and helpful.Daniel from Germany – 18 August 2024 (10/10)
Fantastic location, right in the old town. Clean, comfortable and modern apartment with all the needed equipment. Lots of small snacks and drinks too, very nice 🙂
The bed was super huge and comfy!
Also, the host is just awesome – very friendly and helpful. Gave clear instructions for check-in, always replied fast and even let us stay and keep our luggage in the flat long after checkout time on departure day.
Overall an excellent deal for the price, highly recommend.
What could be improved: We ran out of toilet paper on the last day as there wasn't much provided.Dalit from Australia – 24 July 2024 (10/10)
Amazing location in the heart of the old Jewish area, close to the city centre and the Art faculty (we had a conference there).
The apartment overlooks the old new synagogue and the bustling street.
David was very helpful and welcoming with a full fridge of goodies and a homemade cake waiting for us.
We had cleaning mid stay and also had everything to clean it ourselves.
There is a Nespresso machine with capsules and a stove for cooking and heating. There is even a washing machine in the corridor that we could use.
What could be improved: Unfortunately we arrived during a heat wave in Prague and an A/C would have been nice to have. However, this seems to be common in Prague and we knew it in advance.Melissa from United Kingdom – 1 July 2024 (10/10)
An amazing hotel! I genuinely cant believe something at this price point was so good. We usually opt for cheap accommodation when travelling and end up in hostels. This was a proper room. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. It had all the facilities you could want plus more – the room was built in a way that you could live out of it for a little while if you wanted – it had a little kitchen area with a hob, some pots and pans etc. We arrived a little late in the day (about 9.30pm) and were met at the door and given our key and a little intro to the room. Unbelievably wonderful host. Despite not choosing any breakfast option (if there even was one) we had pastries, yogurt, snacks, coffee, and orange juice all in our room for us. And I thought it was a cute touch that they left a 'Secrets of Prague' book and some chocolate on the night stand. Moreover, it's just so close to a bunch of major sights. Literally a 2 minute walk to the clock/Old Town. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone!
What could be improved: My only note is that we couldn't find this hotel to begin with as theres no sign outside (that we could see). We found the place based on the address and the booking.com pictures and then called the host for entry.
