So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Florenc Apartment on Petrská street, I wasn’t exactly blown away by the neighborhood. I mean, it’s not the postcard-pretty part of Prague you see on Instagram, but you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest advantages. You’re staying where real Praguers live and work, not in some tourist bubble where a coffee costs more than your train ticket.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Central European vibe – think functional rather than flashy, which honestly felt refreshing after seeing so many over-the-top boutique places. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re basically in the heart of the city. The apartment I stayed in had these thick walls that seemed to block out most of the street noise, though you’ll still hear the occasional tram rumbling by (which I actually found kind of charming after a while). The space felt properly lived-in rather than sterile – like someone’s actual apartment rather than a hotel room trying too hard to look homey. Check-in was straightforward, no fancy lobby nonsense, just practical and efficient.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: you’re literally walking distance from both the Old Town and the newer parts of Prague, but without paying Old Town prices for everything. There’s this little Vietnamese restaurant around the corner – Petrská runs right through one of Prague’s more diverse neighborhoods – where you can get an incredible bowl of pho for what you’d pay for a sad sandwich near the castle. The Florenc bus station is close enough that you could theoretically walk there with luggage (though I’d probably grab a tram), which means day trips to anywhere in the country are ridiculously easy to arrange. Actually, the whole public transport thing is brilliant from here – you’ve got multiple tram lines and the metro within a few minutes’ walk, so you’re never really stuck anywhere. I spent most mornings grabbing coffee from the little place across the street (they do this incredible trdelník that’s way better than the tourist traps), then hopping on the tram to wherever I felt like exploring. Evenings, I’d come back to a neighborhood that felt real and lived-in, grab dinner somewhere locals actually eat, then crash in a space that felt more like staying at a friend’s place than some impersonal hotel room. For the price point and that 8.5 rating, it makes complete sense – you’re getting authentic Prague living without the tourist markup, and honestly, that’s worth way more than marble bathrooms and complimentary champagne.
