Fancy apartments by Prague Castle

Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Fancy apartments by Prague Castle on Pohořelec street, you immediately understand why this place gets such rave reviews. The building sits in one of those perfectly preserved Prague neighborhoods where cobblestones meet centuries-old architecture — honestly, it feels like stepping into a fairytale. What struck me most was how quiet this area is despite being so close to the castle; you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from one of Europe’s most visited attractions, yet the street has this peaceful, residential vibe that locals clearly treasure.

The Perfect Prague Location

This four-star property landed in what I’d argue is the sweet spot of Prague — close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist crowds to actually breathe. The castle complex is right there (I mean, it’s in the name for a reason), but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore Malá Strana and cross the river to Old Town. What you don’t realize until you stay here is how many hidden gardens and viewpoints are tucked into this neighborhood. The tram connections are solid too, though honestly, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because the city center is so walkable from here.

The Apartment Experience

Each apartment feels more like staying in a local’s home than a typical hotel room — and that’s exactly what makes this place special. The spaces are thoughtfully designed with that perfect balance of modern comfort and Prague character. You’ll find a proper kitchen setup that’s actually useful (not just decorative), which comes in handy when you want to grab fresh bread from the local bakery and have a quiet morning before the castle crowds arrive. The windows frame views that change throughout the day, and trust me, watching the light shift across the castle walls from your own space never gets old.

Local Neighborhood Charm

What I love about staying here is how quickly you slip into a local rhythm. There’s a little restaurant just down the hill that serves some of the best goulash I’ve had in Prague, and the staff there started recognizing me by day three. The morning walk to get coffee takes you past gardens that most tourists never discover, and you’ll find yourself taking photos of doorways and architectural details that somehow look different in this softer morning light. Parking can be tricky in this historic area, but the property handles it well — just something to sort out ahead of time if you’re driving.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.1 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve spent a few days here. Couples especially seem to fall for this place — there’s something romantic about having your own space in such a historic setting, plus the evening walks around the castle grounds are pretty magical. You get the independence of an apartment with the reliability of a well-run property, and that combination is harder to find than you’d think. The location score of 9.4 tells the real story though — you’re positioned to experience Prague like someone who actually lives here, not just passing through.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Prague at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous cultural festivals and outdoor concerts.

Superb

Although it's basically just a single room, it was surprisingly more spacious than expected from the photos provided on Booking.com. Pretty modern and comfy. Great starting spot for "cruising" around Prague. 5 minutes walk from Hradcany castle. Easily accessible by tram from the Prague main railway station.

What could be improved: Nothing

Ideal if you want a quiet area that's not too far form the city centre.

Good sized apartment that was very clean and comfortable.
Good communication regarding the entry code and other information about the apartment.
Ideal if you want a quiet area that's not too far form the city centre.

What could be improved: It is about a 20 to 30 minute walk to Charles Bridge but there is a tram stop directly outside that takes you to the centre and Ubers are reasonably priced, around £7-8, and readily available.
