Family Apartments Praha 6 Overview

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Family Apartments Praha 6 when I first pulled up to Heleny Malířové street – honestly, the name sounds a bit institutional, doesn’t it? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It sits in this quiet residential pocket of Prague 6 that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos, yet you’re not stranded out in the middle of nowhere either. The building itself has that understated Czech charm – not flashy, just solid and welcoming in a way that makes you feel like you’re staying in an actual neighborhood rather than some sterile hotel district.

What really won me over was how the apartments strike this perfect balance between having your own space and getting proper hotel service. I mean, you’ve got a full kitchen (which saved me a fortune, let’s be honest), but housekeeping still comes by, and there’s actually someone at reception who knows the area inside and out. The woman working when I checked in – wish I’d gotten her name – gave me this insider route to Wenceslas Square that avoided all the construction near the castle. Little things like that make such a difference. The apartments themselves feel lived-in rather than showroom perfect, which I actually prefer. Sure, the furniture isn’t going to win any design awards, but everything works, the beds are properly comfortable, and there’s this cozy factor that a lot of fancier places just can’t nail. Plus, parking was incredibly easy – and free, which in Prague is basically like finding gold.

Here’s the thing about this location that took me a day or two to fully appreciate: you’re in real Prague. Not tourist Prague, not business district Prague, but where actual families live and kids ride bikes in the courtyard. The tram stop is literally a three-minute walk, and once you figure out the system (which honestly isn’t hard), you can get anywhere in the city center in about fifteen minutes. I loved coming back in the evenings to this quiet street after spending days wandering the packed Old Town. The neighborhood has this authentic rhythm – people walking dogs in the morning, the smell of someone’s dinner wafting from windows, that sort of thing. There’s a decent grocery store around the corner, and I discovered this little pub about five blocks away that serves the kind of goulash that locals actually eat. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It’s not luxury, but it’s genuine and comfortable and gives you a completely different perspective on Prague than you’d get staying right in the tourist center. For the price and the experience, it’s honestly hard to beat.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Prague through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich medieval heritage.

Reviews of Family Apartments Praha 6

  • Good – Grigorios from United Kingdom – 22 April 2025 (7/10)

    All basic or less

What could be improved: There was electric alternator who produce disturbing noise at all time.
During night trying to enter the building was absolutely darkness!! Only after elevator arrives you may see…
No shampoo, all very very basic…

  • Very good – Lenka from Slovakia – 9 March 2025 (8/10)

Location, easy to get to by a tram, nice place, comfortable bed, facilities

What could be improved: There was no kitchen towel, dishwashing liquid or a sponge – the only things we missed in the kitchen

  • Good – Prue from Australia – 4 March 2025 (8/10)

It was spacious and well located so we could walk to town. Lots of cafes nearby. It was well heated.

What could be improved: Fairly old building.

  • Superb – Stefan from Slovakia – 14 February 2025 (9/10)

Close to public transportation. The castle and Malá Strana are within walking distance. I appreciate the courtyard parking.

What could be improved: It would be nice to have at least some tea or coffee in the kitchenette.

  • Great place for a short stay, with all amenities we needed, parking place and close to the city centre – Krátka from Slovakia – 3 October 2024 (8/10)

Great location, apartment had everything what we needed and we had a parking for free in the backyard!

What could be improved: The bed was not that comfortable, but nothing we could not cope with

  • An excellent place to stay with great staff and available support. – Elery from United Kingdom – 24 September 2024 (8/10)

Convenience, cleanliness , friendly staff, spacious 😊

What could be improved: The bed in room 24 was way too hard for me. I had to sleep on the sofa instead.(softer Mattress)😊
The curtains were very thin and didn’t block out the street light at night time. (Thicker curtains)😊
Not easy to spot the Apartments from the street when you first arrive. (Clearer signage at entrance)😊

  • Great apartment for a family in Prague! – Annabel from United Kingdom – 8 August 2024 (9/10)

The location was great, parking easy, apartment had everything we needed! Arrival instructions were clear and in English.
The kids shared a double bed but were fine as there were separate duvets!
Would definitely recommend for a family stay in Prague.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Very good – Joe from Ireland – 6 August 2024 (8/10)

It was a lovely base for 2 days in Prague. It was very close to a beautiful park, and about 6 minutes walk to the trams that brought us right into the city centre. There are great eateries and shops in the area, you really couldn't ask for much else. We stayed with our 4 small kids and there was plenty of space in the apartment, and the couchs in the rooms allowed myself and my wife to enjoy a coffee while the kids were in the other room. I would 100% stay here again.

What could be improved: Very little not to like, really. It may have been short one or two things in the kitchen, like a kettle, but with the quality of the coffee shops and restaurants in the area, we didn't really eat in any way.

  • Superb – Mirosław from Poland – 29 July 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was very big with comfortable beds. Free parking and location close to the centre is a big advantage. Very good comunication with the host. Truly recommended 🙂

  • Superb – Junaid from Austria – 27 July 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The staff was smiling and welcoming. Will surely stay there again.

What could be improved: Everything was good.
