The Fairytale Duplex actually delivers on that whimsical promise, but in a way that feels genuinely charming rather than kitschy. I mean, you’re literally on Michalská street – and if you know Prague’s Old Town at all, you’ll appreciate that this puts you maybe a three-minute stumble from the Astronomical Clock, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups right outside your window.

The duplex setup works brilliantly here, honestly. Downstairs you’ve got this proper home cinema situation (and I’m talking actual theater seating, not just a big TV), plus the billiard table that becomes the social hub if you’re traveling with friends. The whirlpool upstairs is where things get interesting though – there’s something almost surreal about soaking in hot water while looking out over those medieval rooftops. The whole place has this lived-in quality that vacation rentals usually lack, like someone actually put thought into making it comfortable rather than just Instagram-ready. Sure, the stairs between levels are a bit steep (typical for these old Prague buildings), but that’s part of the charm.

What really sets this apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. Wenceslas Square is right there when you want the energy and the late-night food options, but Michalská itself stays relatively quiet after the day-trippers head back to their tour buses. I love that you can grab proper Czech breakfast at the little café around the corner – locals actually eat there, which tells you something. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but everything works the way it should, and honestly, after a long day of wandering cobblestone streets, coming back to your own billiard table and that whirlpool feels pretty damn luxurious anyway. Just be aware that Prague’s Old Town can get busy during peak season, so if you’re looking for total tranquility, maybe aim for shoulder months – though even in summer, once you’re inside with a movie queued up, the outside world sort of melts away.

  Lots of space in an older but beautiful apartment in an old house in a very central location. Good facilities including beds. Fun with a billiard table. We can imagine this being a great place for a larger family or group of friends. Smooth check-in and check-out. Very good communication with the host.
  
  What could be improved: The central location will mean some noise from the bar outside at night so you might not like this place if you are sensitive to that, but we slept well anyways.

  Dům má úžasného genia loci, člověk si při stoupání po sešlapávaných schodech může na chvíli připadat jako Athanasius Pernath. Pronajímatelé byli velice nápomocní, při řešení nefunkční klimatizace, kdy do pár hodin od nahlášení dovezli novou. Snad jedinou výtkou by mohlo být, že by mohly být dvě sady klíčů, pokud je v apartmánu více lidí. Jinak vše perfektní – vířivka, kulečník, projektor…
