Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Exe City Park? It’s tucked on Opletalova Street in this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in tourist chaos. I mean, you can literally walk to Wenceslas Square in about five minutes, but when you step outside in the morning, you’re not immediately hit with that wall of tour groups and street vendors.
The building itself has this understated Czech charm – honestly, it fits right into the neighborhood without trying too hard. Inside, it’s what I’d call smartly renovated. Nothing flashy, but everything works, which you know… sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long day of cobblestone walking. The rooms are actually a decent size for Prague standards (anyone who’s stayed in Old Town knows what I’m talking about), and the beds are properly comfortable. I was worried it might be one of those places where they skimp on mattresses, but they didn’t. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile – good water pressure too, which honestly can be hit or miss in this city.
What really won me over though was how the staff actually seemed to know Prague. Not just the obvious tourist stuff, but when I asked about finding a good traditional Czech restaurant that wasn’t overpriced and touristy, the guy at reception sent me to this place on Korunní that was absolutely perfect. That kind of local knowledge makes such a difference. The breakfast setup is solid – nothing revolutionary, but proper coffee, fresh bread, and they actually have decent cheese and cold cuts. You can fuel up properly before heading out to tackle Prague Castle or getting lost in the Jewish Quarter. Speaking of getting around, there’s a tram stop basically at your doorstep, which is clutch if you’re planning to venture beyond the city center or if your feet are protesting after too much sightseeing.
The whole area comes alive in the evenings in this really authentic way – you’ll hear locals chatting at the café across the street, and there’s this gentle hum of city life that’s energizing without being overwhelming. I stayed there in late September and the street trees were just starting to turn, giving everything this lovely golden cast in the afternoon light. One small thing – if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs because Prague is a city that doesn’t really sleep, and Opletalova does get some traffic. But honestly, it’s more of a gentle urban soundtrack than anything disruptive. For a three-star place, they’ve really nailed that balance of comfort, location, and value that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked a room.

If travelling by rail: location is perfect! Modern, decent fixtures, everything was as good as expected for a hotel of this quality – unless you were looking for 5stars and huge rooms, there was nothing to fault this place. A very good city-hotel.
