You know what caught me off guard about EA Hotel New Town? It’s tucked right on Žitná Street, which sounds like some obscure Prague side street, but honestly it’s perfectly positioned – you’re basically in the heart of New Town without being stuck in the tourist chaos of Old Town Square. I mean, you can walk to Wenceslas Square in maybe eight minutes, but at night it’s actually quiet enough to sleep with the windows cracked open.

The place has that solid four-star feel without trying too hard to impress you. The lobby’s got this understated Czech elegance thing going on – dark wood, clean lines, nothing flashy but you can tell they’ve put thought into it. Check-in was surprisingly smooth (I’ve had some experiences in Prague where hotel staff seem perpetually annoyed), and the front desk guy actually gave me decent restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the touristy spots. The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run European hotel – not huge by American standards, but smartly laid out with good lighting and, thank god, reliable wifi. The bathrooms are properly modern, which honestly isn’t always a given in Prague’s historic buildings. One small thing that impressed me: the blackout curtains actually work, and if you’ve ever tried to sleep through those bright Prague summer mornings, you’ll appreciate that detail.

What really sells this place though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re on the edge of where locals actually live and work – there’s a great coffee spot called Míru Café just two blocks down that most tourists never find, and you can grab groceries at the Albert on Koruna Street without trekking across the city. The tram stop at Karlovo náměstí is maybe a five-minute walk, so you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with Prague’s… let’s call it “creative” taxi pricing. I actually ended up loving the evening walks through the quieter streets around there – you get glimpses of real Prague life, people walking their dogs, kids playing in the small parks. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me because it’s one of those places that just works. It’s not going to blow your mind with some Instagram-worthy rooftop bar, but after a long day of climbing up to Prague Castle or getting lost in the Jewish Quarter, you’ll be genuinely happy to come back here. The staff seems to actually care about the place running smoothly, the neighborhood gives you breathing room from the tourist intensity, and you’re still close enough to everything that matters. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need in a city like Prague.

  Breakfast was really good. Great selection. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Looked like it had been newly refurbished and the hotel looked amazing. Very smart and clean. Room including the bathroom was very comfortable and clean. Double windows gave very good sound proofing to the outside world.
