EA Hotel Julis

Prague, Czech Republic
Václavské náměstí 22, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

So here’s the thing about EA Hotel Julis – you’re literally staying on Wenceslas Square, which honestly feels a bit surreal when you first walk out the front door. I mean, you’re right in the thick of Prague’s main drag, but somehow the hotel manages to feel like a proper retreat from all the tourist chaos happening just outside.

The building itself has this old-world Prague charm that you’d expect from a place sitting on Václavské náměstí, but they’ve done a really nice job updating the interiors without going overboard. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern – you know, they’ve kept the high ceilings and those gorgeous tall windows that actually open (which is rarer than you’d think in city center hotels), but everything else feels fresh and well-maintained. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly surprised me a bit given some of the other places I’ve stayed in Prague’s historic center.

What really works here is the location intelligence, if that makes sense. Yes, you’re on one of the busiest squares in Central Europe, but the hotel’s positioned and soundproofed well enough that you’re not dealing with street noise all night – though I’d still request a room facing the quieter courtyard side if you’re a light sleeper. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the metro – he actually suggested walking through the side streets via Tylovo náměstí, which turned out to be this lovely little discovery I never would have made otherwise.

Parking’s going to be a bit of a headache if you’re driving (honestly, just don’t drive in Prague’s center), but the Muzeum metro station is practically around the corner, so you’re connected to everything. And here’s something I appreciated – they don’t try to oversell what they are. It’s a solid 4-star place that does the fundamentals really well rather than attempting some boutique hotel pretense that would feel forced in this location. The breakfast is decent – nothing revolutionary, but good coffee and fresh pastries, which is really all you need before heading out to explore.

The 7.9 rating feels about right to me. It’s not going to blow you away, but there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that just works smoothly. Check-in was quick, the elevator’s reliable (which matters more than you’d think in these older buildings), and the whole experience felt… well, comfortable. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re spending your days wandering around Prague’s cobblestone streets and dealing with crowds at the castle and Charles Bridge. You come back to a place that feels like a genuine retreat rather than another tourist trap trying to separate you from your money.

What could be improved: Location and hotel very good

Great location and large room

What could be improved: We chose this hotel because it had swimming pool but it was only open at night 8pm -11pm which was late so we didn't get to use it. If it was open in the morning or afternoon we would have used it.

I loved the room! Big and clean and very comfortable at the heart of the city.

What could be improved: That the pool and sauna were only open between 20.00 - 23.00. This was not mentioned on Booking.com and as this is done time, in essence most people are excluded from using these facilities. If this was clear from the outset, I would have booked another hotel.
