Hotel Description

So here’s the thing about EA Hotel Julis – you’re literally staying on Wenceslas Square, which honestly feels a bit surreal when you first walk out the front door. I mean, you’re right in the thick of Prague’s main drag, but somehow the hotel manages to feel like a proper retreat from all the tourist chaos happening just outside.

The building itself has this old-world Prague charm that you’d expect from a place sitting on Václavské náměstí, but they’ve done a really nice job updating the interiors without going overboard. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern – you know, they’ve kept the high ceilings and those gorgeous tall windows that actually open (which is rarer than you’d think in city center hotels), but everything else feels fresh and well-maintained. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly surprised me a bit given some of the other places I’ve stayed in Prague’s historic center.

What really works here is the location intelligence, if that makes sense. Yes, you’re on one of the busiest squares in Central Europe, but the hotel’s positioned and soundproofed well enough that you’re not dealing with street noise all night – though I’d still request a room facing the quieter courtyard side if you’re a light sleeper. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the metro – he actually suggested walking through the side streets via Tylovo náměstí, which turned out to be this lovely little discovery I never would have made otherwise.

Parking’s going to be a bit of a headache if you’re driving (honestly, just don’t drive in Prague’s center), but the Muzeum metro station is practically around the corner, so you’re connected to everything. And here’s something I appreciated – they don’t try to oversell what they are. It’s a solid 4-star place that does the fundamentals really well rather than attempting some boutique hotel pretense that would feel forced in this location. The breakfast is decent – nothing revolutionary, but good coffee and fresh pastries, which is really all you need before heading out to explore.

The 7.9 rating feels about right to me. It’s not going to blow you away, but there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that just works smoothly. Check-in was quick, the elevator’s reliable (which matters more than you’d think in these older buildings), and the whole experience felt… well, comfortable. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re spending your days wandering around Prague’s cobblestone streets and dealing with crowds at the castle and Charles Bridge. You come back to a place that feels like a genuine retreat rather than another tourist trap trying to separate you from your money.

Reviews

  • Michel from Lebanon – 3 February 2025 (8/10)

The location is excellent, the rooms are clean, and the customer service is very kind and helpful.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, at the time I booked, the restaurant on the top floor was closed.
The pool has no lighting inside the water.

  • Anthony from United Kingdom – 26 March 2025 (9/10)

Location and facilities, everything you need.

What could be improved: Location and hotel very good

  • Debnam from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (7/10)

    Great location and large room

What could be improved: We chose this hotel because it had swimming pool but it was only open at night 8pm -11pm which was late so we didn't get to use it. If it was open in the morning or afternoon we would have used it.

  • Alexandra from United Kingdom – 13 February 2025 (8/10)

I loved the room! Big and clean and very comfortable at the heart of the city.

What could be improved: That the pool and sauna were only open between 20.00 – 23.00. This was not mentioned on Booking.com and as this is done time, in essence most people are excluded from using these facilities. If this was clear from the outset, I would have booked another hotel.

  • Tomáš from Slovakia – 26 January 2025 (9/10)

perfect location, huge room with comfortable bed, great bathroom, essentially everything was there

What could be improved: there is a possibility to lock yourself on the balcony xd (we had to call someone to come and open it for us), massage chairs were not working

  • Hamed from Italy – 23 January 2025 (8/10)

location was perfect, close to center and the Christmas market right in front of the Hotel at the same street. Metro in 2 minutes by walk and the accessibility was perfect.

What could be improved: The main access was a bit confusing and I think it was because of the Christmas market but also google maps showed a way which was dead end with no access.

  • William from United Kingdom – 18 January 2025 (8/10)

Central location , clean and warm

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Matt from United Kingdom – 18 December 2024 (8/10)

Great location, spacious and clean rooms.

What could be improved: The shower head fell off a few times from the pole, which wasn’t ideal. One of our party had his bag taken by mistake by another guest. Luckily it was returned, just thought this was poor from the staff on reception. Luckily another member of our party had spotted this on return to the hotel.

  • Jane from United Kingdom – 16 December 2024 (8/10)

Lovely location on Wenceslas Square. I liked the little kitchenette
Reception always manned and so helpful

What could be improved: We didn't have time to use but I would have been annoyed to pay extra for the swimming pool in the hotel

  • Stephen from Spain – 14 December 2024 (8/10)

Great location, room was excellent, lovely bathroom with under floor heating as was only about 1* outside. Staff were great
