Design Hotel Neruda Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Design Hotel Neruda? I was expecting another one of those trendy boutique places that’s all style and no substance, but this spot actually delivers on both fronts. The location alone is pretty incredible – you’re literally on Nerudova Street, which is this winding cobblestone stretch that leads up to Prague Castle. I mean, you can’t get much more central than that, and honestly, the fact that they managed to create a sleek, modern hotel in what’s basically a historic neighborhood is impressive.
The rooms have this really cool contemporary vibe that somehow doesn’t clash with the old Prague architecture around it. They’ve got these clean lines and smart design touches – nothing too flashy, just well thought out. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, despite being on a street that gets pretty busy with tourists during the day. The windows are solid, and by evening, Nerudova settles down anyway since most of the day-trippers head back down the hill. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too, which you don’t always get at smaller hotels. They had solid recommendations for restaurants that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps, and check-in was smooth – no waiting around or confusion about reservations.
Here’s the thing about staying on Nerudova though – you’re going to do some walking. It’s uphill to the castle (which takes maybe 10 minutes), and downhill to Old Town Square and all that. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. You feel like you’re staying in the real Prague, not some sanitized hotel district. In the morning, you can grab coffee and watch the city wake up before the tour groups arrive. The neighborhood has these little shops and galleries tucked into the historic buildings, and you start to recognize the locals pretty quickly. Parking is basically non-existent on the street itself – if you’re driving, definitely coordinate with the hotel beforehand because you’ll need to figure that out. But if you’re doing Prague right, you probably won’t need a car anyway. The trams and metros will get you everywhere, and a lot of what you want to see is walkable from here. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you want somewhere that feels distinctly Prague but with actual comfort and style.

Perfect for our weekend trip – the hotel was clean and comfortable, and very quiet. Location was excellent, far enough from the main tourist locations so that it was not crowded or noisy, but with an easy walk to the sights. The included breakfast buffet was a lovely addition and so helpful in getting an early start. We also appreciate that the staff kindly arranged airport taxis for us – the drivers were very polite and prompt. Overall a great experience.
What could be improved: Our room became quite warm even though we turned down the heating, as we like to sleep in a colder room. We often had to open the windows to try to bring the temperature down.David from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (9/10)
