Hotel Description

You know what’s wild about staying at the Dancing House hotel? You’re literally sleeping inside one of Prague’s most talked-about buildings – the one that looks like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire mid-dance (locals just call it the Tančící dům, which honestly rolls off the tongue better). I mean, most people just walk by, snap a photo of those curved walls, and move on, but actually staying here gives you this weird insider perspective on Gehry and Milunić’s architectural experiment.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it. You’re right on Jiráskovo náměstí, which sounds fancy but it’s actually this lovely spot where the touristy Old Town energy starts to mellow out – you’ll see actual Czechs walking their dogs and grabbing coffee, not just cruise ship groups with matching umbrellas. The Vltava is right there (you can hear the trams rumbling across the bridge, which I found oddly comforting), and you’re maybe a ten-minute walk to Wenceslas Square if you want to dive back into the chaos. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to grab groceries at the Tesco just down Resslova street – sounds mundane, but when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights, being able to stock up on Czech beer and those amazing local pastries makes all the difference.

The rooms themselves feel surprisingly intimate for such a statement building. I was expecting something cold and ultra-modern, but there’s actually this warmth to the design – lots of wood, curves that echo the building’s exterior, and these floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the city like living postcards. Fair warning though: if you’re a light sleeper, request a room facing away from the main road. The trams start early (around 5 AM), and while it’s not terrible, it’s definitely noticeable. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which you don’t always find at boutique places – they’re quick with restaurant recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist traps, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you real directions instead of just pointing vaguely toward the castle. Honestly, with a 9.2 rating, you’d expect things to run smoothly, and they do, but it’s the little touches that stood out – like how they remember your coffee preference after day two, or how they’ll hold packages if you’ve been out shopping on Národní street.

Early hotels booking in Prague is essential during major events like the Prague Spring Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned classical music scene and Gothic architecture.

Reviews

  • Panagiotis from Greece – 15 March 2024 (9/10)

The room was excellent and spacey overlooking the river. Great and clean interior and bed.

What could be improved: Like most of the hotels i have stayed in Prague the breakfast was basic. Not many choices, a lot of common food was missing, and nothing exceptional. The price of breakfast in most 4 and 5 star hotels is outrageous compared to what they offer in the area.

  • Samantha from United Kingdom – 25 February 2025 (8/10)

Hotel is amazing, lovely rooms and food

What could be improved: Roof top bar is very scruffy
Staff are extremely rude throughout the hotel, staff really let the hotel down

What could be improved: Air quality in the room

  • Richard from United Kingdom – 20 February 2025 (9/10)

great rooms with a amazing bathroom and shower.

What could be improved: roof top bar, staff were under staffed and didn’t appear to enjoy their job and we not that friendly

  • Jayne from United Kingdom – 16 February 2025 (9/10)

Loved the building and amazing room we were in. Colour room lights fab (we were in one of the glass rooms). Food good and views fab, one voucher each for access to the roof terrace (normally a charge) and the cafe on the ground floor is a chilled out space. Basement gallery really good (admission charge) and the lovely lady who kindly spoke English to me explained about the exhibition and loaned me an info booklet in English. Info in room gives the fascinating story of the hotel architecture.

What could be improved: We had one room with an additional bed (for me and two teenage children) – the fold up bed was disappointing – hard mattress, this happens a lot in other hotels – the same care is not given to the additional fold up bed -vs the lovely large comfortable mattress in the room – it would be good if it was the same quality mattress as the main bed.

Great, central location with a tram stop right across the street! The hotel has great views from the sky bar, and a convenient 24-hr reception. The room was large and as displayed in photo. Highly recommend!
