Curiosity apartments

Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Curiosity apartments? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. I mean, walking up to 41 Spálená, you’re basically in the heart of New Town but on this quieter stretch where locals still outnumber tourists — and honestly, that’s getting harder to find in Prague these days.

The building itself has that understated Prague charm where they’ve clearly put money into renovating without going overboard with the “boutique hotel trying too hard” vibe. The apartments feel more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than a typical hotel, which I guess explains the 4-star rating that sits comfortably at 7.8 out of 10. Not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but definitely not cutting corners either. The units I’ve seen have these nice touches — good coffee makers (not the terrible pod machines), decent-sized fridges, and windows that actually open properly, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places mess that up. The WiFi works consistently too, and I’m someone who gets cranky about that stuff.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a 7-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but more importantly, you’re close to some of the better local spots that guidebooks tend to miss. There’s this excellent Vietnamese place around the corner on Opatovická that the whole neighborhood seems to know about, and you can hit the farmers market at náměstí Míru on Saturdays without dealing with the tourist crowds at Old Town Square. The tram connections are solid — you can catch the 22 or 23 right there and get pretty much anywhere you need to go. Parking is the usual Prague nightmare, but they can arrange spots if you ask ahead (and pay accordingly, because this is still central Prague). I actually prefer walking anyway since you’re close enough to duck back for an afternoon rest, which honestly saved my feet during a particularly ambitious sightseeing weekend. The street noise isn’t bad either — Spálená gets some traffic but it’s nothing like staying near the main tourist drags where you’ve got stag parties stumbling around at 3 AM.
