You know what caught me off guard about Chateau St. Havel? The name sounds all fancy and intimidating, but honestly, this place has this really welcoming, almost homey vibe once you step inside. It’s literally right across from the main train station – and I mean literally, like Před nádražím translates to “in front of the station” – but somehow they’ve managed to create this peaceful wellness bubble that actually works.

I’ll be honest, when I first saw the location I was skeptical about noise, but the soundproofing is surprisingly solid. The wellness aspect isn’t just marketing fluff either – they’ve got this spa setup that feels more like a boutique health retreat than your typical hotel amenities. The treatment rooms have this warm, earthy design that makes you forget you’re in the middle of Prague’s transit hub. What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know their stuff about the wellness treatments, not just going through the motions. The breakfast area has these big windows where you can watch the morning commuter rush while you’re sipping coffee, which is oddly relaxing – like being in a calm fishbowl watching the world wake up.

The rooms themselves are more spacious than you’d expect for a city center spot, and they’ve done this interesting thing where the wellness theme carries through without being over the top. Natural materials, good lighting, and – this matters more than people realize – really decent water pressure in the showers. Parking is actually doable here too, which anyone who’s driven in Prague will tell you is basically a miracle. The neighborhood might not be the most Instagram-worthy part of the city, but you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, and the metro connections are right there if you want to explore further out. I mean, you can’t beat the convenience, even if the immediate surroundings are more practical than picturesque. That 8.7 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two – it’s one of those places that grows on you as you discover all the little details they got right.

  Big windows makes the room full of light. This is the 2nd time I stayed at the hotel, everytime they offer me one free drink which I really enjoy at their romantic winter garden. Bed is really soft, big and comfy.

  Nice hotel, clean, organized, beautiful structured and maintained.

  What could be improved: The room under the roof definitely not suitable for 3 persons, because of the diagonal roof structure.

  The building from outside looks much more shick than from inside.

  I’ve stayed at this hotel twice and will probably book again, even though in reality it is slightly different than presented online (when it comes to the grounds and lake / garden / gold court etc.). Despite the fact that the surroundings are not as you might expect from the presentation and the distance to the city center is considerable (which we knew when we booked), the fact that it is very cozy and comfortable and the staff is a big plus. The rooms are spacious, clean and have a neat, suitable design.
  
  What could be improved: Although this did not affect us directly, perhaps restoring the grounds to have boats available, golfing, sun tanning etc. as shown in the pictures here and on the hotel website would match more the expectations travellers would have when choosing this accommodation.
