Charles Bridge Suite by Riverside

Prague, Czech Republic
2 Náprstkova 1. patro, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Honestly, when I first walked up to Charles Bridge Suite by Riverside on Náprstkova, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – the entrance is sort of tucked away on the first floor, which threw me off for a second. But you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its best features because you’re literally steps away from all the action without being right in the thick of tourist chaos.

The location is absolutely killer, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to Charles Bridge (hence the name, obviously), but here’s the thing most people don’t realize – you can actually hear the Vltava River from some of the rooms, especially at night when the city quiets down a bit. During the day, there’s this gentle hum of activity from the nearby cafés and shops, but it never gets overwhelming. I stayed there in late spring, and honestly, stepping out in the morning to grab coffee felt like having Prague’s Old Town as your personal backyard. The narrow cobblestone streets around Náprstkova have this authentic medieval vibe that you just can’t fake – no tourist trap nonsense, just real Prague life happening around you.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with the building’s historic character. The suites (and they actually feel like proper suites, not just hotel rooms with a fancy name) have these gorgeous high ceilings and original architectural details, but the amenities are totally up to date. The bathrooms are particularly well done – good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in older Prague buildings, trust me. I mean, you’re staying in a neighborhood where some buildings date back centuries, so it’s refreshing when everything just works properly. The staff was genuinely helpful too, not in that overly rehearsed hotel way, but more like locals who actually know their city and want to share it with you. They pointed me toward this little wine bar on Kampa Island that I never would’ve found otherwise – it’s maybe a ten-minute walk through some of Prague’s most photogenic streets.

The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Prague, but it nails the things that actually matter when you’re exploring a city like this. You can walk to Prague Castle, wander through Lesser Town, hit up the famous astronomical clock, or just sit by the river with a beer – all without dealing with trams or taxis. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the neighborhood actually smells good. You know how some tourist areas have that stale, overly commercialized smell? Not here. You get whiffs of fresh bread from nearby bakeries and that clean river air mixing with old stone buildings. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself taking the long way back just to soak up more of the atmosphere.

Prague hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Old Town Square to elegant castle-view hotels and modern accommodations near Wenceslas Square.

Place was beautifully decorated, comfortable, warm, great size and location was excellent.

What could be improved: We arrived at night and found the property difficult to find. Once there it was fantastic. Would have liked a toaster and microwave to be part of the kitchen set up.
