Hotel Description

Honestly, I walked past Charles Bridge Palace probably a dozen times before I realized it was actually a hotel – and that’s sort of the point. Tucked right on Anenske namesti, it sits in this perfect pocket between the tourist chaos of Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge crowds, but somehow manages to feel like a secret. You know that feeling when you stumble onto a side street in Prague and suddenly the tour groups disappear? That’s exactly where this place lives.

The building itself has that understated elegance that Prague does so well – none of the flashy gold trim you see at some of the bigger hotels, just solid baroque bones with interiors that actually make sense. I mean, whoever designed the rooms clearly understood that travelers want space to spread out their stuff, not just Instagram-worthy corners. The bathrooms are proper sized (thank god), and here’s something you don’t always get in historic Prague buildings – the plumbing actually works like it’s 2024, not 1724. The beds are firm in that European way that either clicks with you immediately or takes a night to get used to, but the linens are genuinely nice, not that scratchy hotel cotton you sometimes get.

What really sold me on this place though is how the staff just… gets it. They’re not doing that overly rehearsed hospitality thing, but they know their neighborhood inside and out. The guy at reception sent me to this tiny wine bar on Nerudova Street that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned I needed to catch an early train, he knew exactly which tram stop would save me ten minutes (Malostranská, not the obvious one everyone uses). You can tell they’ve figured out that most guests want to experience Prague like locals, not just tick off the major sights.

The location is honestly genius if you think about it – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Charles Bridge, but because you’re just slightly off the main drag, you don’t have street musicians playing till midnight under your window. I could hear the city humming, but it was more like a gentle backdrop than the full assault you get closer to Wenceslas Square. Mornings were especially lovely – I’d grab coffee from the little place around the corner (they open at 7, perfect for early risers) and walk down to the river before the crowds showed up.

The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re coming with huge suitcases, just be prepared – these old Prague buildings weren’t exactly designed for modern luggage, so pack smart. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. This isn’t trying to be some massive international chain where everything’s predictable. It’s a proper Prague hotel that happens to have really nailed the balance between authentic character and modern comfort. The 8.8 rating makes complete sense once you’re there – it’s not flashy enough for a perfect 10, but it delivers on everything that actually matters when you’re exploring a city like Prague.

  • Weldon from United States – 15 March 2025 (9/10)

Everything. This hotel is beyond exceptional, beyond 5 stars. An old and historic building minutes from the Charles Bridge and a main entry into old town Prague, the hotel has a stories history and baroque feel to it. The location couldn't be better to explore this section of the city… but that's just the beginning of this hotel's story.

Hotel quality, in our experience, is very much a reflection of the staff. The entire team at Charles Bridge Palace are simply exceptional in their care for the experience of their guests!

To the team at the front desk, the team in the very delicious buffet breakfast room, the cleaning crew that keeps the rooms and the entire property immaculate… thank you…and cheers! We stayed for 9 wonderful days and will happily come back!

To the front desk staff… thank you, thank you, thank you, especially Dan.. Your guidance and assistance in helping arrange various experiences from airport transportation to classical concerts to day-tours made our stay in Prague very much easier and more enjoyable!

Once again… an exceptional hotel with an extraordinary staff, and the ideal base from which to explore a truly magnificent city and meet its welcoming people!

  • Tzinos from Greece – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

  • Kay from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

A very traditional looking hotel which I liked.Location was fab 1 min walk to bridge and river. 5-10 min walk to centre of old town. It was very clean and breakfast was excellent.lots of hot water for a shower. It was quiet at night and had Lots of shops and bars near by. Bed was comfy with really comfy pillows. Was very happy and would recommend.

What could be improved: Was in one of the top rooms so WiFi wasn't too great and was very warm but the hotel did provide a fan.

  • Rebecca from United Kingdom – 13 March 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location for amenities and touristy spots! Breakfast was great with great choice and room was very spacious

What could be improved: Stairs going up to the bedroom were very slippy which could have been a hazard, shower pressure was fairly low

  • Nigel from United Kingdom – 7 March 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: All was good.

  • Kerry from United Kingdom – 2 March 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Traffic noise but it’s a city so expected
