Central Hotel Prague Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Central Hotel Prague on Rybná Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you, and this one actually grew on me during my stay.
The location is honestly pretty solid, even if it’s not screaming “tourist central” at first glance. You’re tucked into this quieter stretch between Old Town Square and the river, which means you can actually sleep at night (trust me on this – I’ve stayed near Wenceslas Square and regretted it). Rybná Street itself has this authentic Prague vibe going on, with locals heading to work in the morning and a few good pubs that aren’t completely overrun with tour groups. The Municipal House is literally a five-minute walk away, and I mean, once you’re there, everything else is pretty walkable too. I found myself cutting through the side streets to get to the Jewish Quarter instead of fighting the crowds on the main drags.
The hotel itself feels… well, it’s definitely showing its age in some spots, but not in a falling-apart way. More like your reliable older cousin who’s got character, you know? My room was clean and bigger than I expected – actually had space to open my suitcase without playing furniture Tetris. The breakfast room gets pretty packed around 8:30 AM (apparently that’s when all the tour groups descend), so I started going down earlier and honestly enjoyed the quieter morning vibe. The staff at reception were surprisingly helpful with restaurant recommendations, and not just the obvious touristy ones either. One guy told me about this wine bar on a tiny street I never would’ve found otherwise.
Here’s the thing though – don’t expect luxury touches or Instagram-worthy lobby shots. The elevator is one of those old-school European ones where you have to close two doors and pray, and the WiFi gets spotty on the upper floors. But the beds are actually comfortable, the showers have decent pressure (miracle in Prague, seriously), and there’s something refreshing about a place that just focuses on the basics without trying to be something it’s not. I stayed there in late September when the weather was still nice, and honestly, I was barely in the room anyway – just needed a clean, quiet place to crash between wandering around the city. For what you pay versus what you get, especially considering you’re still in the heart of things without the Old Town Square price tag, it works. Would I stay there again? Yeah, probably. It’s that kind of place – nothing fancy, but it does the job and lets Prague be the star of the show.

Reviews of Central Hotel Prague
Very good – Christine from United Kingdom – 18 June 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was lovely just a shame there were no croissants. Room had four single beds but plenty room to move around.
What could be improved: There was no kettle or cups in the room, we asked for a kettle and got one but they wouldn't give us any cups. The lovely man at breakfast gave us some the following morning. The shower was very low on the wall and the pressure wasn't great.Stayed there two years ago and this time even better e.g. breakfast greatly improved. – (rabbi) from United Kingdom – 3 June 2025 (8/10)
We had top floor room with outside balcony to sit on. Room very good size and whole hotel freshly painted. It was in excellent location just by Old Town Square and Republic Square. Many good restaurants nearby.
What could be improved: No coffee/tea making facilities in roomVery good – 2see from Romania – 17 May 2025 (8/10)
Clean, perfect placement everything at max 20 min walking distance and 5 min walk to the subway or trams ( most of them being at 5-10 min walk), lots of options at breakfast.
What could be improved: No ventilation in the bathroom, after a shower and toilet usage you needed to use the window of the room ant that is not so convenient when you have wet hair and outside is chilly.
It had no AC but it doesn't matter because the period when I traveled I didn't need one.
The fridge wasn't working but maybe I I told the reception about it they might have fix it.
Very noisy neighbours.Good – Hanna from Poland – 7 May 2025 (7/10)
Rooms are decent. Location is great walking distance to the old town. Breakfast is ok.
What could be improved: There was an angry lady in the breakfast at May2. We are a family of 6, we did combine 2 tables at the corner of the restaurant and she shouted like we don’t understand her. Ofcourse we understand what she meant, she could have said it in a nicer way, instead she shouted at us and with big eyes that it’s not allowed. Anyway ofcourse we followed, we don’t want to cause any trouble at all. My 8yo daughter was terrified.
Angry lady should not be put in the front line, it ruins a vacation mood.Very good – Elena from Romania – 5 May 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Nothing to addNice choice if you want to be walking distance from historical sites – Alicja from France – 9 April 2025 (8/10)
Great central location close to all the historical sites and museums. Easily accessible by walk from the train station. Breakfast was OK, the room was nice and the service on point.
What could be improved: It would be have been nice to have a kettle in the roomHotel was right next to the old town square it was clean and comfortable but nothing flashy I’d have no problem staying – Andrew from United Kingdom – 27 January 2025 (7/10)
Location was great room was quiet and the beds was very comfortable
What could be improved: The room was a little basic and the breakfast was a bit limited but this seems to be the way in most of the Czech hotelsGood – Alain from Canada – 25 January 2025 (7/10)
It was clean and staff was friendly
What could be improved: It was old. Looked like the key reader on the door had been ripped off before.Nice stay and good location – Lucy from United Kingdom – 10 December 2024 (8/10)
Good selection and very friendly staff in breakfast room
What could be improved: Would have liked a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities in the room as this is a normal amenity for most hotelsGreat hotel with excellent location. – Andrew from United Kingdom – 3 December 2024 (8/10)
Excellent staff and location.
What could be improved: Comfortable room but a little gloomy.
