Buddha-Bar Hotel Prague Overview
You know what hit me first walking into Buddha-Bar Hotel Prague? The scent – this intoxicating mix of sandalwood and something I couldn’t quite place, maybe lemongrass. It’s tucked right on Jakubská street in Old Town, which honestly is perfect because you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock but far enough down this quieter side street that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos at all hours. I mean, Prague’s Old Town can get pretty intense during summer, but this little pocket stays surprisingly peaceful.
The whole place has this gorgeous dark, moody vibe going on – think rich burgundy walls, golden Buddha statues catching the light, and these massive comfortable chairs that you just sink into. What really impressed me though was how they managed to make a 5-star hotel feel intimate rather than stuffy. The staff actually remembers your name after day one (rare, trust me), and the concierge – this guy knows everything about Prague’s underground restaurant scene, not just the touristy spots everyone recommends. The rooms are spacious by European standards, and here’s something practical nobody tells you: the bathrooms have heated floors, which is clutch during Prague’s chilly months. Also, the beds are genuinely comfortable – I’m talking proper sleep, not that hotel insomnia you sometimes get with too-firm mattresses.
But honestly, the restaurant downstairs is where this place really shines. It’s connected to the famous Buddha-Bar brand, so you get that signature Asian fusion cuisine, but they’ve adapted it beautifully for local tastes. The weekend brunches get packed with well-dressed locals, which is always a good sign. One thing to note – if you’re sensitive to sound, request a room facing the courtyard rather than the street side. Jakubská isn’t super busy, but there’s occasional late-night foot traffic from people bar-hopping in the area. Parking can be tricky since it’s Old Town (those medieval streets weren’t exactly designed for cars), but the hotel has arrangements with a garage about two blocks away. Check-in was smooth, and they actually had my room ready at noon instead of the usual 3 PM, which saved my entire first day. The location really can’t be beat – you can walk to Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, or the Jewish Quarter without breaking a sweat, but you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Prague rather than just another international hotel chain that could be anywhere in the world.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is absolutely perfect – right in the heart of the city, with everything just a short walk away. The room was cozy yet stylish, and I especially loved the spacious bathtub – such a treat after a long day. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touch of being able to choose music from the bar’s curated collection. Breakfast was also a highlight: fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I’ll definitely be coming back!
What could be improved: The only downside was that my room didn’t have any traditional windows – just two skylights directly above the bed. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any blinds or curtains, so I was woken up quite early by the sunlight. If you’re a light sleeper, this might be something to keep in mind.Oliver from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (10/10)

Samantha from France – 16 January 2025 (9/10)
Gorgeous room, very luxurious and a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was very plentiful and good. A nice stay.
What could be improved: The air con in room is very, very harsh, dry and I have asthma so it aggravated my symptoms. The generic music they play through the hotel is a bit annoying, so many composers and good music they could have chose to fit in with the theme of hotel.Gary from United Kingdom – 31 December 2024 (10/10)
