You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually tucked into one of those gorgeous heritage buildings on Stepanska that I’ve walked past a hundred times without really noticing. The Bourgeois Apartment by Ruterra sits right in the thick of things – I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but somehow the street itself stays pretty quiet, especially in the evenings when the office crowd clears out.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Prague relative let you crash at their place for the week. The ceilings are properly high (thank god, because some of these old buildings can feel cramped), and they’ve done this interesting thing where they’ve kept all the period details – the original moldings, the parquet floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a 19th-century building – but mixed it with really thoughtful modern touches. The kitchen actually works, which honestly isn’t always a given with these heritage conversions. I spent way too much time making coffee there in the mornings, just enjoying how the light comes through those big windows facing the courtyard.

What I really appreciated was how they handled the whole “boutique apartment” thing without going overboard. It’s comfortable and well-designed, but it doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard to impress you with trendy furniture that looks better than it functions. The bed’s genuinely comfortable, the wifi works properly (crucial when you’re dealing with Prague’s sometimes spotty internet), and there’s enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it – Národní Street is right there with all those great little restaurants and wine bars, and you can walk to the river in about ten minutes. Just be aware that while Stepanska itself is quiet, you’ll hear a bit of tram noise during the day, though it honestly becomes kind of soothing background sound after the first night. For a four-star place, it delivers on the promise without any of that overly polished hotel feeling that can make you feel like a tourist even in your own temporary home.
