You know what caught me off guard about Botel Vodnik? I was expecting some gimmicky floating hotel experience, but this place actually gets it right. It’s moored along the Vltava in Smíchov, and honestly, waking up to the gentle rocking motion and river sounds is way more relaxing than I thought it would be. The whole boat setup isn’t just for show – they’ve genuinely made it work as a comfortable place to stay.

The location is pretty clever if you think about it. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from Old Town Square, but you’re right by the Anděl metro station, which means you can be in the center in maybe 10 minutes. And here’s the thing most people don’t realize – staying in Smíchov puts you close to some really good local spots. There’s this whole area around Nový Smíchov shopping center that’s got great restaurants and bars that tourists never find. Plus, parking is actually manageable here, which… well, if you’ve tried to park anywhere near Prague Castle, you’ll appreciate that.

The rooms themselves feel more spacious than typical Prague hotels, probably because they designed the boat from scratch rather than converting some 14th-century building (not that there’s anything wrong with those, but sometimes you want to stand up straight, you know?). The staff really knows their stuff too – they’ll give you the kind of local tips that actually matter, like which tram to take to avoid the crowds or where to get proper Czech food that isn’t tourist-trap expensive. I mean, it’s still a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully put together. The 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting something genuinely different without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

  Check in was very easy, reception very helpful. Our room was spacious for 3 people. Access from the airport very easy on public transport. Seeing the sights easily to access via the nearby public transport. There were restaurants and fast food places within very short walking distance.
  
  What could be improved: There was a party in the restaurant which was no problem, until people/children running on the deck which is the roof of the cabin. The party was finished by midnight.

  The best breakfast I have ever had.
  Very nice, cozy, spacious and clean room.

  What could be improved: Rooms are not soundproof. I could hear a very loud elevator or other guests from the rooms next to me.
  Room was cold even when I had my heating on the maximum. I guess the air is somehow coming inside and windows are not airtight.
  A bedside lamp would be nice.

  The room was spacious and cozy, the staff was polite. The view is great. The breakfast is extremely good, it's worth staying here just for that.

  Staff where fabulous.. Room was fantastic and I personally found that is was very quiet and peaceful.. Breakfast was included there was plenty to choose from.. Definitely my go too place to stay in future trips to Prague..
  
  What could be improved: That deck bar or restaurant bar was not open would of been nice to sit on deck in evening with a drink..
  Would also of been nice to have a kettle in room…

  Beautiful and unexpected place. In the centre but hidden. Very tasty breakfast, good coffee, good music in the morning, good heating, amazing view.
  
  What could be improved: Old wallpapers, rust on the plumbing, old aluminum frames on the windows, foam on the ceiling in the bathroom, clogged drains, broken shower holder, poorly sealed joints between the tiles in the toilet, the first floor smells like cats. Bad juice and staind fish in the breakfast room, thin walls. It was lacking the kettle in the room.

  It's just nice to be on a ship. Feeling of adventure and travel. There is a very kind receptionist. The room is comfy, clean, big enough, with heating, functional bathroom. The breakfast was very rich with choice of lots of delicious things and coffee machine. View from the breakfast room to Vyšehrad.
  
  What could be improved: It was a quite smelly in the corridors. The carpects there need cleaning.

  What could be improved: Need a bit updating but not a big issue. It would be nice to have a coffee or tea facility in the room.

  location is great for exploring. boat was fun to stay on and enjoyed being woken up in the morning by the sound of ducks on the river. liked the quirky decor inside and the fish tank.
  
  What could be improved: thought the outdoor area on top of boat could be made into a nicer area to sit out.
