Botel Racek

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Podolské nábřeží, Prague, 14100, Czech Republic

Overview

First Impressions

You know what caught me off guard about Botel Racek? It’s actually a floating hotel — a converted boat permanently moored along the Vltava River. I mean, I’d heard about these “botels” in Prague but experiencing one firsthand is something else entirely. The three-star property sits right on Podolské nábřeží, and honestly, the novelty factor alone makes it memorable. There’s something genuinely charming about falling asleep to the gentle rocking motion of the water. The entire concept transforms what could be an ordinary stay into an unforgettable adventure on the river.

Location & River Views

The location is actually brilliant — you’re technically outside the city center, but that works in your favor here. The riverbank setting gives you this peaceful escape from Prague’s tourist crowds, while still being connected to everything that matters. I watched couples strolling along the waterfront in the evenings, and it’s clear why this spot scores so highly for romantic getaways. The views from the boat stretch across the water toward the city, and during sunset, well… let’s just say your Instagram will thank you. The surrounding area offers a tranquil atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the bustling streets just beyond.

The Room Experience

The room itself feels like a cozy ship cabin — compact but thoughtfully designed. Don’t expect sprawling space, but everything you need is there, and the nautical theme actually works rather than feeling gimmicky. The windows offer direct water views, which is something you definitely won’t get at a traditional hotel. I found the gentle movement of the boat surprisingly soothing, though if you’re prone to motion sickness, you might want to consider that. The bathrooms are small but functional, and the whole setup feels clean and well-maintained. Each detail reflects careful attention to comfort within the unique floating environment.

Dining & Amenities

The onboard restaurant serves decent Czech cuisine with that unbeatable river backdrop. I actually enjoyed dinner there more than I expected — the food isn’t groundbreaking, but eating while literally floating on the Vltava adds something special to the experience. Parking is available on the shore, which is honestly a relief in a city where finding a spot can be a nightmare. The staff seems genuinely proud of their unique property, and their enthusiasm shows in the service quality. These thoughtful touches make the overall experience feel well-considered and guest-focused.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t your typical Prague hotel experience, and that’s exactly the point. Couples especially seem drawn to the romantic novelty of staying on the water — there’s something undeniably special about having the river as your front yard. The 8.4 rating reflects what I experienced: a well-run, distinctive property that delivers on its promise of something different. Sure, you’re trading some traditional hotel amenities for the unique botel experience, but if you’re looking for memorable rather than conventional, Botel Racek delivers. Just pack light — those ship corridors aren’t built for oversized luggage. This property proves that distinctive character and quality service create lasting impressions.

Apartments in Prague provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Czech culinary traditions.

We may come back.

Clean and nicely renovated boat hotel. Even with lots of people the room was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was good.

What could be improved: It's a bit far from the centre, but with trams you can get to the hotel very easily.
