Botel Racek Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Botel Racek? The name literally means “seagull boat” in Czech, and honestly, it fits perfectly. This floating hotel sits right on the Vltava River along Podolské nábřeží, and I mean literally floating – it’s an actual boat converted into a hotel. When I first walked up the gangway (yes, a real gangway), I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star floating accommodation, but the 8.4 rating suddenly made sense once I got inside.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you think about it. You’re technically in Prague 4, which sounds far but really isn’t – the city center is maybe 15 minutes by tram, and there’s a stop practically right there. What I loved though was how quiet it gets at night. You’re on the water, away from the typical Prague tourist chaos, but still close enough that you can stumble back from a night out in Wenceslas Square without breaking the bank on taxis. The views from the deck are honestly spectacular, especially at sunset when the light hits the water just right. I spent way more time than I expected just sitting out there with a Pilsner watching the occasional riverboat cruise drift by.
Now, let’s be real about what you’re getting into – it’s a boat, so the rooms aren’t huge, and you’ll definitely feel a gentle rocking motion. Some people love it (I actually slept better than usual), but if you get seasick easily, maybe reconsider. The rooms are clean and functional though, with that sort of efficient, nautical vibe that works surprisingly well. The staff genuinely seemed to care, which you don’t always get at this price point in Prague. Parking was way easier than I expected too – there’s a decent-sized lot right there, which is honestly a miracle in this city. I mean, try finding affordable parking near the Old Town and you’ll appreciate this immediately.
What really won me over was the breakfast situation. They serve it on the deck when weather permits, and there’s something ridiculously charming about eating Czech bread and watching the morning river traffic while the city slowly wakes up around you. It’s not fancy, but it’s genuinely pleasant in a way that surprised me. Plus, you’re right near some great walking paths along the river if you’re into that sort of thing – I discovered this whole stretch I never knew existed, even though I’d been to Prague probably six times before.
Apartments in Prague provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Czech culinary traditions.

Clean and nicely renovated boat hotel. Even with lots of people the room was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was good.
What could be improved: It's a bit far from the centre, but with trams you can get to the hotel very easily.Superb – Krzysztof from Poland – 23 June 2025 (9/10)
Location, public communication to the city centre, parking, rooftop bar, breakfasts

What could be improved: Both nights when we returned to our room, it smelled a bit. Perhaps from the water. But we got used to it quickly.Good – Pat from Canada – 17 June 2025 (7/10)
The outdoor dining room/bar was a lovely place for a drink on a hot summer evening.
What could be improved: We thought breakfast was included.,…but it was available. Should make that clearer in advertising.A very good comfortable stay and very friendly and obliging people. – Mike from United Kingdom – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Room was well appointed. Shower had great pressure. Beds were comfortable. The seating area upstairs and breakfast room were good.
Breakfast was very good but a toaster would be a welcome addition.
What could be improved: I found the stairs a little tricky going down but coming up was fine.Superb – Ralston from United Kingdom – 15 June 2025 (9/10)
The staff in the restaurant were really friendly and nice. The location is excellent and the hotel is very clean. The breakfast option is real value for money.
What could be improved: This hotel gets a lot of young groups and they tend to be very noisy in the nights and cause a disturbance along the corridors. The reception staff does not seem to be bothered about this. Lots of items on the restaurant menu are not available. We planned to have dinner one night in the restaurant but when we realised that everything we were trying to order was not available we had to leave and look for another place to have dinner. The stay was worth it – Babirye from Uganda – 27 May 2025 (9/10)
I liked the place, it was very warm and cozy. I’d definitely stay here while in Prague again. The breakfast was really nice
