Hotel Description

So I stumbled onto Black Star Suites completely by accident – well, actually my original booking fell through and I needed something last minute in Prague. Honestly? Best travel mishap ever. The place sits on Seminářská street, which is this quiet little stretch that most tourists never find, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from Wenceslas Square. I mean, you can hear the trams rumbling by on Národní if you really listen, but inside it’s surprisingly peaceful.

The suites themselves are what got me – and I’m usually pretty skeptical about places that call themselves “suites” when they’re basically just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge. But these actually feel like apartments. The one I stayed in had this separate sitting area with windows that looked out over the courtyard (avoid the street-facing ones if you’re a light sleeper, trust me on this). The kitchen setup was legit too, not just some sad little kitchenette. I actually cooked breakfast a couple mornings because there’s a Tesco just around the corner on Spálená, and honestly, after a week of restaurant food, scrambled eggs in your pajamas hit different. The building itself has that classic Prague vibe – you know, the heavy wooden doors and marble entryway that makes you feel like you’re in some period drama, but without the creaky floors and questionable plumbing you sometimes get with these older places.

What really sold me though was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady (my friend lives over there), the guy at reception didn’t just point me to the metro – he told me about the 11 tram that picks up right at Národní třída and drops you practically at Náměstí Míru. Little things like that. Plus, check-in was refreshingly normal – no upselling, no awkward small talk, just “here’s your key, WiFi password is on the desk, let us know if you need anything.” The kind of efficient friendliness you want when you’re jet-lagged and just need to drop your bags. I stayed during shoulder season in October, so I can’t speak to summer crowds, but the area felt authentically local – lots of Czechs heading to work in the morning, not swarms of tour groups. And parking, if you’re driving (which, why would you in Prague, but anyway), there’s actually street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, unlike near Old Town where you’ll pay through the nose. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything just works the way it should.

Spacious apartment. It was upgraded gratis. Absolutely best location possible. Very close to different attractions, very convenient! In the centre but a calm angle, there is a restaurant down stairs. We liked everything

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Roman from Netherlands – 18 March 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Mind your head – some doors are quite low!

  • Kerem from Turkey – 2 March 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing

  • Quang from Vietnam – 8 February 2025 (10/10)

Wonderful location in the heart of the Old Town Praha, but still very quiet and accessible by car. The reception is exceptional, warm welcoming and helpful.

  • Eva from Switzerland – 8 February 2025 (9/10)

The location is superb! Very close to Charles Bridge!

  • Kderk from Australia – 30 January 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful historic apartment with lounge/dining room, a main bedroom and small single room. Gorgeous interior, quiet and fantastic location. Natural light is fantastic with added skylights. Coffee/tea maker and small fridge welcome additions.

What could be improved: If you have accessibility needs the stairs and bathroom (with deep bath/shower) may pose difficulties.

  • Mihaela from Spain – 27 January 2025 (9/10)

Excellent location, very close to everything, in a beautiful historic building, and a very nice room with plenty of space.
The staff had a very nice gesture towards us – when they found out it was my birthday, they gave us a small bottle of champagne to celebrate.

What could be improved: The only thing I didn’t like was that there were two single duvets on a double bed. Even for one person, they seemed too small. Anyway, there should be a double/king-size duvet on a double/king-size bed.

  • Basia from Germany – 7 January 2025 (10/10)

It is a beautiful hotel in the centre of the old town, within walking distance of most attractions, restaurants and shops, but without much noise or many tourists around.
The room was very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming.
We would like to personally thank Jitka for her excellent service, responsiveness and kindness.

What could be improved: The coffee machine could have been a bit cleaner but other than that, everything was excellent!
