BHG Apartments Prague

Prague, Czech Republic
29 Staroměstské náměstí, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what hit me first about BHG Apartments Prague? The fact that you’re literally sleeping on Old Town Square – like, I mean *on* it. Number 29 Staroměstské náměstí puts you right in the thick of everything, which honestly can be a blessing and a curse depending on what you’re after.

I’ll be straight with you – mornings here are magical. Before the tour groups descend (usually around 9 AM), you can actually step outside and have that iconic square mostly to yourself. The Astronomical Clock is right there, obviously, but what really got me was being able to grab coffee from one of the little spots tucked into the medieval buildings and just… sit. By afternoon though, it’s absolutely heaving with people, so if you’re someone who needs peace and quiet, well, you might want to keep your windows closed during peak hours. The apartments themselves are surprisingly well soundproofed for buildings this old – I was expecting way more street noise but honestly slept fine most nights.

The thing about staying in these converted historical buildings is that you get this weird mix of old-world charm and modern convenience that somehow works. The apartments (and yes, they’re actual apartments, not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette thrown in) feel spacious compared to most Prague accommodations I’ve tried. You’ve got proper cooking facilities, which is clutch when you realize how expensive eating out in the tourist center gets. Plus – and this is something I didn’t expect – the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Like, really knows it. They pointed me toward this tiny wine bar on Týnská street that I never would’ve found otherwise, and told me exactly when to hit Wenceslas Square to avoid the crowds (early evening, around 6 PM, in case you’re wondering).

What really sets this place apart is the location intelligence, if that makes sense. You’re close enough to walk to Prague Castle (about 15 minutes through Lesser Town), but you’re also perfectly positioned for the Jewish Quarter, which is maybe five minutes on foot. The Charles Bridge is literally a three-minute walk – I timed it because I’m weird like that. And here’s something nobody tells you: being this central means you can easily duck back to your room during the day. Trust me, your feet will thank you after all that cobblestone walking.

The 8.4 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect (the elevators are tiny, and some of the bathrooms show their age), but it delivers on what matters most: location, space, and that authentic Prague experience without feeling like you’re roughing it. If you’re the type who wants to feel like a temporary local rather than just another tourist, this hits the sweet spot. Just maybe pack some earplugs for Saturday nights when the square gets a bit rowdy.

I was a bit wary at first, since the apartment is part of the Hotel group and it is located ~ 5 mins from their main building. However, I can safely say the apartment was very good! I haven't been in too many places at the time of this review, but this was the first time the bathroom and the toilet was actually clean, like you'd clean it for yourself clean. The room is more than big enough, so is the bed. The apartment is equipped with the basics, hair dryer, few plates glasses and utensils etc for those looking to make some food themselves. We had breakfast included, which was in the main restaurant building, my fiancé and I were more than happy with the options and quality served, especially the pineapple slices.

Good variety of food on buffet breakfast. Great location.

What could be improved: Apartment wasn’t in main hotel so had to walk a few mins for breakfast but we knew this. Collected keys from main hotel but didn’t know this was called U Prince hotel and we were looking for BHG apartments so a bit stressful but found it in the end. Maybe this advice needs to be added to info on the booking form
