You know what caught me off guard about the Best Western Hotel Moran? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street – Na Morani – that most tourists never stumble across, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. I mean, you’re still just a quick tram ride from Old Town Square, but when you step outside, you’re in this properly Czech neighborhood where people are walking their dogs and heading to the corner pub, not snapping selfies every five feet.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Prague architecture that doesn’t try too hard to be Instagram-perfect, which I sort of appreciated after seeing so many overly themed hotels. The rooms are spacious by European standards – and I’m talking actually spacious, not “cozy” which usually means you can touch both walls with your arms spread. What really impressed me was how quiet everything stays, even on weekends. The walls are thick (thank god), and since you’re off the main tourist drag, you don’t get the constant rumble of those hop-on-hop-off buses that seem to plague every other hotel in the center. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood too – they pointed me toward this excellent hospoda around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, where locals were playing cards and the beer was about half the price of anything near Wenceslas Square.

Honestly, the 8.7 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but everything just… works. The breakfast room gets busy around 8:30 when the business travelers hit it, so either go early or wait until after 9 if you want to actually find a table. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no lengthy explanations of amenities I didn’t ask about. And here’s something practical that matters more than you’d think: they have actual coffee in the lobby, not just that instant stuff that tastes like disappointment. The whole place has this calm, efficient vibe that feels more like staying at a well-run pension than a chain hotel, even though it technically is one. If you’re the type who needs to be stumbling distance from the Charles Bridge, this probably isn’t your spot, but if you want to sleep well, save some money, and still be connected to everything that matters in Prague – well, this is exactly where you want to end up.

  The location is excellent, walking distance from public transport and all major attractions.

  rooms were bigger than normal/expected. Very clean. The location was superb for walking around and close to all the main sites. Very grateful for the help and service the staff who had a wealth of local knowledge, polite and willing to take the time to talk
  There was one lady at breakfast who was the eldest/more mature staff member – she was absolutely lovely – she made my family and I feel so welcome despite speaking very little english…she made up for the other rude member of staff member
