Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked up to 5 V Jirchářích, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the entrance is tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that feels like it hasn’t changed since the 14th century. But that’s actually perfect, because you’re literally in the heart of Old Town without the tourist chaos that hits Wenceslas Square every morning. The apartment sits on the first floor (which is what Americans would call the second floor, just so you know), and while there’s no elevator, it’s not a terrible climb.

What really struck me about this place is how it manages to feel both historic and livable. You know what I mean? Like, you’ve got these gorgeous original details – thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet considering you’re surrounded by Prague’s busiest sightseeing area, and windows that frame the kind of views that make you understand why people write poetry about this city. The furnishing is simple but thoughtful, nothing fancy but everything you actually need. The kitchen’s small but functional – I made coffee there every morning and it felt more authentic than hitting another tourist café. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with medieval torture devices, which honestly can’t be said for every place in Prague’s older buildings.

Location-wise, this is where things get really good. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock (though I’d suggest seeing it early morning before the crowds descend), and the Jewish Quarter is right there too. But here’s the thing locals know – V Jirchářích connects you to some of the best non-touristy spots. There’s this tiny wine bar called Bokovka just around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign, and the best goulash I had in Prague was at a place called U Fleku, which you can walk to in about eight minutes. The 8.7 rating makes sense because while it’s not luxury – don’t expect a concierge or room service – it delivers exactly what it promises. The hosts were responsive when I had questions, check-in was smooth, and honestly, the value is solid for what you’re getting in this location. Just pack light if you’ve got heavy bags, because those stairs and cobblestones don’t mess around.

  • The apartment was one of the best we`ve ever had in Prague, a great trip overall. – Pertti from Finland – 19 June 2025 (9/10)

We had breakfast at local restaurants. The apartment was excellent and we had a great time there.

What could be improved: 1. The beds in the bedrooms were too low for us. It was difficult to get up. We are not so young anymore….2. The overhead shower in the shower cubicle did not work….3. It would be a good idea to add a shelf for detergents to the shower cubicle….4. There was no bidet hand shower near the toilet….5. There were too few bath towels. The appropriate number could be at least 2/guest….6. There were too few sheets and pillowcases. The appropriate number could be at least 2/guest….7. The TV did not work except through the PC. That was enough for us.

  • Very good – Kieran from United Kingdom – 24 March 2025 (8/10)

  • Overall a good stay. – Anna from Poland – 1 August 2024 (8/10)

Great location, easy parking, restaurants in the area.

What could be improved: The bathroom was a bit small.

  • Spacious apartment in a great location. – Jennifer from United Kingdom – 11 July 2024 (8/10)

Great location. Lots of space for a family of four. Helpful and professional hosts who organised an early check in and a complimentary mid/week cleaning service. Coffee machine with lots of pods was a nice touch and lasted us a whole week. Having a washing machine was also very useful.

What could be improved: The central living area would benefit from a sofa. We didn’t want to sleep with ground floor windows open so it was a little warm at night.

  • Excellent apartment 14 minute walk to the old square. – Sam from United Kingdom – 26 June 2024 (10/10)

    Spacious modern and clean

What could be improved: Nothing not to like.
