Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Art Apartments Celakovskeho Sady on Vodičkova Street – I mean, the name’s a bit of a mouthful, right? But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked right in the heart of New Town, and I’m talking proper central Prague here, not some “conveniently located” marketing nonsense. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, which sounds touristy but actually means you’re connected to everything – the metro lines, trams, and all those little side streets where the real Prague happens. The building itself has this lovely art nouveau feel (hence the name, I suppose), and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cared about the design. The apartments – because that’s what they really are, proper apartments – have these gorgeous high ceilings and original hardwood floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, but not so much that you feel like you’re disturbing the neighbors below.

What really got me was the attention to detail in each unit. I stayed in one of their larger apartments, and honestly, the kitchen was better equipped than most places I’ve rented long-term. Full-size fridge, proper cooktop, even decent knives – which, if you’ve ever tried to slice a tomato with hotel kitchenette equipment, you’ll know is basically a miracle. The living spaces feel genuinely lived-in rather than sterile, with actual art on the walls (again, the name makes sense) and furniture that looks like it was chosen by humans, not a corporate purchasing department. The bathrooms are modern without being cold, and – this might sound weird but it matters – the water pressure is fantastic. After walking around Prague’s cobblestones all day, a proper shower is everything. The only minor thing I’d mention is that some of the street-facing units can get a bit noisy on weekend evenings, but that’s Prague for you, and honestly, I kind of loved hearing the city come alive outside my window.

Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart though – the staff actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about where to grab breakfast that wasn’t a tourist trap, the front desk guy (I think his name was Pavel?) sent me to this tiny café about two blocks away where locals were reading newspapers and the pastries were still warm. That 9.1 rating isn’t just about the apartments themselves – it’s because they’ve figured out how to make you feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it. The location puts you walking distance from everything you’d want to see, but you’re also surrounded by normal Prague life – grocery stores, pharmacies, that slightly chaotic energy of a real neighborhood. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to unpack properly and settle in rather than just crash somewhere between sightseeing, this is your spot. Just book early if you’re coming during summer or around Christmas – word’s getting out about this place.
