You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first walked up to Hotel Arbes on Viktora Huga street – it’s tucked into this quiet residential area in Smíchov that most tourists never even see. But sometimes the best finds are the ones hiding in plain sight. The building itself has that classic Prague charm without trying too hard, and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the place. The lobby smells faintly of coffee and has these worn leather chairs that look like they’ve hosted countless conversations between travelers figuring out their next move.

What really won me over was how the staff just… gets it. They’re not reading from some corporate script – when I asked about getting to the city center, the guy at reception actually sketched out a little map showing me the tram stop (literally two minutes away) and mentioned that the 12 and 20 lines would get me to Wenceslas Square in about fifteen minutes. He also pointed out this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM – honestly, their koláče became my breakfast ritual. The rooms are clean and comfortable without any fancy bells and whistles, but here’s the thing: the beds are actually good, the shower has proper water pressure, and you can open the windows for fresh air without street noise keeping you up all night. I mean, you’re far enough from the tourist chaos but close enough that a quick tram ride puts you right in the thick of things.

What I really appreciated was how this place feels like a local secret. You’ve got Petřin Hill just a pleasant walk away – perfect for those sunset views everyone posts about, except you’ll actually have space to enjoy them. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with corner pubs where locals hang out and small shops that close for lunch (very Prague). Parking isn’t a nightmare here like it is in Old Town, and honestly, for a 3-star place, they punch above their weight. The rating of 8.5 makes total sense when you consider you’re getting solid comfort, genuinely helpful service, and a location that lets you experience Prague like someone who actually lives there instead of just passing through. It’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but if you want a clean, comfortable base where you can actually rest between adventures – and maybe chat with other travelers who clearly did their homework – this is your spot.

  Very well connected to everywhere, within tram distance. The room was comfy and had everything we needed. It also has private parking so it was convenient cause we arrived by car and didn't want to park elsewhere, and for a reasonable price.
  
  What could be improved: The location on Google Maps for navigation is weird, we got a bit lost because it doesn't take you to the actual street when using navigation, but that's not their fault, but be careful cause it might seem you cannot enter the street, so you have to put it manually.

  Good room, friendly efficient and helpful staff, good breakfast, good location – walkable from the 191 bus stop at Andes or the metro at Andes. Also walkable to the main areas of interest Charles Bridge, castle etc. Two supermarkets nearby, food court in one with plenty of choices.

  The staff are warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile. The rooms are attractive and quiet. I have stayed in both the street view rooms and the courtyard view rooms, and they are equally quiet. The breakfast is very good. There are small bathtubs in the rooms, if you like to take a bath. There is a small fridge. The location is ideal – it’s not swarming with tourists, and is easy to walk to from the Andel metro station (which is reachable by a bus from the airport)
