Apartments Tronicek Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartments Tronicek on Purkyňova, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s this understated building tucked into a residential area that feels refreshingly removed from the tourist chaos, but here’s the thing that surprised me: it’s actually perfectly positioned if you know Prague at all. You’re basically a stone’s throw from the city center, but you wake up to the sounds of locals heading to work instead of tour groups shuffling past your window at 7 AM.

The apartments themselves? Well, they’re exactly what you’d hope for from a solid 3-star place – nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s genuinely clean. I mean, the kind of clean where you don’t feel weird walking barefoot on the floors. The kitchenettes are small but functional (I managed to make decent coffee every morning, which honestly makes or breaks a trip for me), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. You know what I really appreciated? The windows actually open properly – seems like a small thing until you’ve stayed in places where you’re stuck with stale air conditioning all night. The neighborhood gets properly quiet after about 10 PM, which is gold if you’re planning to walk around Prague all day and actually need to sleep.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the city. You’re close enough to Wenceslas Square that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes, but far enough that you’re not paying tourist prices for everything. There’s this little grocery store around the corner where the cashier started recognizing me after three days – that kind of neighborhood feel you just don’t get when you’re staying right in Old Town. The tram connections are actually fantastic once you figure them out (grab a transport map on day one, trust me), and parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the castle. I watched other travelers stress about their cars while I just… didn’t have to think about it. The staff here gets that most people are trying to balance seeing Prague with not going completely broke doing it. They’re helpful without being pushy, and when I needed restaurant recommendations, they pointed me toward places where locals actually eat instead of the obvious tourist traps. Honestly, for the price point and that 8-point rating, Apartments Tronicek delivers exactly what it promises – a comfortable, no-nonsense base for exploring Prague without the premium you pay for being right in the thick of things.

  • Location makes this an excee – Mary from Ireland – 6 November 2024 (8/10)

Excellent location to explore Prague. Within very easy walking distance of the various attractions. Plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, takeaways right outside, Although the inside is quite dated, it is very comfortable and warm and everything you need is provided.

What could be improved: The outside looks quite dilapidated.

  • Excellent location and worth the cost. – Lalit from Sweden – 7 August 2024 (9/10)

Great location, in the city center, right in front of kakfa head statue. Very big, spacious, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Windows can be opened so it didn’t feel too hot. There is a shopping mall nearby, plenty of multi cuisine restaurants public transport options and tourist places. Old city square, astronomical clock, charles bridge are 10-15 mins away by walk. For 35€, you get private parking. The host Milan was really friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: Warm white lighting was giving the apartment more older look. You can only fit 2 bags and an adult in the small lift in the building.

Ideal location directly between the old city and the new city. Directly across from shopping mall and main public transit lines. Great value. Plenty of space.

What could be improved: No hot water. Was promised compensation for this deficiency, but have not received as promised. No internet. Was able to fix this myself with some trouble shooting.
