So I stumbled across Apartments Almandine on Rytířská Street, and honestly? It’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your booking skills. The building sits right in the thick of Prague’s Old Town – I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Estates Theatre where Mozart premiered Don Giovanni. The location is almost ridiculous in how perfect it is, but somehow they’ve managed to keep it from feeling touristy or overrun.

What struck me first was how quiet the apartments actually are, considering you’re basically in the heart of everything. Rytířská is this narrow cobblestone street that feels more residential than commercial, so you get that authentic Prague vibe without the constant stream of tour groups marching past your window. The apartments themselves have this perfect balance – they’ve clearly been renovated with modern travelers in mind (thank god for proper WiFi and updated bathrooms), but they haven’t stripped away all the character. High ceilings, original hardwood floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, and these great big windows that actually open properly.

The thing that really sets this place apart though is how they’ve thought about the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The kitchenettes are properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer, but actual cooking facilities if you want to grab ingredients from the market on Havelská (which, by the way, is about a five-minute walk and perfect for morning coffee and pastries). I appreciated that they provide proper coffee, not those terrible instant packets most places dump on you. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward lobby hovering while they “prepare your room.” The staff actually knows the neighborhood and gave me better restaurant recommendations than most guidebooks.

You know what really sold me on the place? It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed Prague apartment rather than a generic hotel room, but without any of the usual apartment rental headaches. The building has this gorgeous entrance with original tilework, and your neighbors are likely to be a mix of locals and other travelers who did their homework. Parking is… well, it’s Prague’s Old Town, so don’t expect miracles, but there’s a garage about three blocks away that won’t completely destroy your budget.

If I’m being completely honest, the only minor gripe is that the walls between apartments could be a touch thicker – not that it’s loud, but you might hear your neighbor’s morning routine if they’re particularly enthusiastic about their shower singing. But given that you’re paying significantly less than you’d drop at one of those overpriced hotels on Wenceslas Square, and getting way more space and character, it feels petty to complain. This is the kind of place that makes Prague feel like your temporary home rather than just another tourist stop.

  Excellent location right in the city center, apartment was quiet, clean and comfortable, staff was nice, we could leave our luggage after check-out in the lobby.

  Close to old town square. Apartment was massive. Plenty of room for a family of four.

  Location is great, very close to the old town square but far enough away to avoid any excessive noise or disturbance. Very spacious apartment. We didn't cook, only used the kettle and microwave. I think it had all the basics for a stay as long as you dont want to make huge meals, a small fridge and a 2 hob stove, no oven.

  It was good to see that the apartment did actually reflect the photos as sold. Spacious, warm on arrival, and comfortable. The 2 extra shower rooms in addition to the en-suite was our prime reason for choosing it, but we enjoyed the building, the location and the reception staff were very helpful – before and during. Thank you.
  
  What could be improved: Just be prepared that there aren’t any mirrors in the bedrooms at all, only in the bathrooms. The large wardrobe in the hall is really the only hanging storage for the entire apartment. They are mirrored but smoked glass, plus there isn’t a plug nearby so have to use the hairdryer in the bathrooms. This only might be an issue if at full capacity and several people trying to get ready at once. Those mirrors would just help in the bedrooms, including the little area off the kitchen.

  Nice big apartment, with everything you need for a short stay. Comfortable bed&sofa bed, kitchenette with kettle and coffee machine, as well as many useful utensils. Nice and warm apartment with big bathroom. It is located in the centre of the old town, lots of attractions are reachable within walking distance. I recommend it and would definitely stay here again.

  Everything was amazing, could not have been happier with our stay! The location was perfect, right in the middle of everything. The host was so friendly, they made sure we had everything we needed every day, and filled up with coffee and tea in our apartment.
  We all liked that it was a building with history, but even tho it was old it was still clean and nice.
  
  Lastly I want to mention the pillows. For me pillows are a dealbreaker when I travel and sleep at hotels, bad pillows can ruin the whole stay. Here they had very good pillows, so i truly appriciate that!
