You know what caught me off guard about Apartment House – The Modern Flat? The name actually undersells it. I mean, yeah, it’s technically apartments, but walking into that lobby on Soukenická 7, you’d never guess you’re not in a proper boutique hotel. The whole setup feels more polished than half the chain hotels I’ve stayed at in Prague.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it. Soukenická runs right through New Town, and you’re maybe a seven-minute walk to Wenceslas Square – close enough that you don’t need to plan your day around metro schedules, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos every time you step outside. There’s this little café called Louvre (not related to the museum, obviously) just around the corner that locals actually go to, which I discovered completely by accident when I was wandering around jet-lagged at 6 AM. The street itself is pretty quiet – I was worried about noise since it’s central, but honestly, Prague’s old buildings are thick, and I slept fine even with the windows cracked open.

What really sold me on the place was how they’ve managed to make these apartment-style rooms feel like actual homes without that sterile extended-stay vibe. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show – they’ve got proper full-size fridges and decent cookware, which came in handy since Prague’s food scene is amazing but can get heavy after a few days. I actually picked up ingredients at the Tesco on Národní (about a ten-minute walk) and made breakfast a couple mornings. The staff at check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no overselling amenities or pushing restaurant reservations, just “here’s your key card, WiFi password is on the desk, call if you need anything.” Sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but everything works exactly as it should, and there’s something to be said for that kind of reliability when you’re dealing with travel fatigue and just want your room to be a comfortable base. Plus, and this might sound random, but the elevators are actually fast, which you don’t appreciate until you’ve stayed somewhere with those ancient cage elevators that take forever.
