Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked down Týnská ulička to find this place, I was a bit skeptical. The street’s narrow and sort of tucked away, and you know how Prague can be with these hidden addresses. But honestly? That’s exactly what makes this apartment so perfect. You’re literally steps from Old Town Square – I mean, you can hear the astronomical clock chiming every hour (which is either charming or mildly annoying at 6am, depending on your perspective) – but you’re on this quiet little side street that most tourists just walk right past.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, not like those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down. The owner clearly knows what travelers need – there’s proper kitchen stuff if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco down on Národní (honestly, eating out every meal in Prague gets expensive fast), and the wifi actually works, which… well, you’d be surprised how often that’s not a given in these old buildings. The space has character too – those high ceilings and old wooden floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a 14th-century building. I actually loved falling asleep to the sound of footsteps echoing off the cobblestones outside.

What really sold me though was the location knowledge you get staying here. The owner left this little notebook with actual useful tips – like how Týnská connects you to the back entrance of Týn Church (so you can skip the crowds), and which direction to walk to find the good coffee shops on Stupartská that locals use. You’re close enough to everything that matters – Charles Bridge is maybe a 7-minute walk, Wenceslas Square is even closer – but far enough from the main tourist drag that you can actually think clearly. Plus, there’s something magical about walking home late at night through these empty medieval streets after all the day-trippers have gone back to their bus tours. The whole area transforms into something much more intimate and mysterious.

The only real downside? Well, it’s Prague’s Old Town, so don’t expect modern conveniences like an elevator or perfectly soundproof windows. But honestly, if you’re the type of person booking a place called “Apartment by the Old Town Square,” you probably already know what you’re getting into. You want that authentic Prague experience, not some generic hotel chain. And with a 9.3 rating, clearly other people figured out what I did – this is the kind of place you recommend to friends when they ask where to stay in Prague.

Had a fabulous stay in this perfectly located and clean apartment. Have recommended to Friends and Family already! Highly recommend.

So many things to like about this property. The location cannot be beat! It was comfortable, clean, and the jacuzzi tub was a nice unexpected feature. Check in/out was easy, super fast communication from host, building is private and relatively quiet compared to some ally's at night in Prague. I will stay here again if I make it back, highly recommend!

What could be improved: The only thing I didn’t like was not being able to stay longer

  • Simon from United Kingdom – 24 February 2025 (10/10)

Lovely, clean, bright airy apartment, loved the lay out. All facilities we needed. Fantastic location just off the old square but really quiet road.
    Easy check in and out.
    Would definitely recommend

The most amazing location. Very spacious and secure. The bed was so comfy!

  • Natalie from United States – 19 September 2024 (10/10)

Fantastic location just behind Tyn Church. Place has all convenience and comfort, very nice kitchen, bathroom is modern and having washing machine a big plus. It's a big apartment. Staff is great, whenever there was little issue such a hairdryer not working they quickly replaced it. There is also cleaning every three days which was great. Definitely will be back.

    What could be improved: None

  • Rk from Israel – 16 September 2024 (10/10)

Location is very center of old Prague, bath is great, kitchen is well-equipped.
The hostess was polite and staff was available on the phone when needed.

What could be improved: I am used to fiber internet at my home, so internet was a bit slow but not crazy slow, just could have been better. Also had to restart router manually once to make it work at bearable standard, I also notified staff about it.

  • Raunak from United States – 15 August 2024 (8/10)

Location… location…location…. Staff were also very helpful. Office/main reception is close to the apartment. It is one bedroom apartment but has a sofa bed to accommodate more than 2 people.

What could be improved: Air con in the unit is not sufficient. During peak summer it gets really hot.

  • Nicole from Austria – 16 June 2024 (10/10)

Everything was great, the location is perfect. The street and building were very quiet. Would come again!

    What could be improved: –

  • Jennifer from Australia – 28 May 2024 (10/10)

Great apartment, staff waited for us even though our train was delayed. Great location, all lovely. Would recommend to anyone needing an apartment style accommodation.

What could be improved: No instructions for the washing machine/dryer

  • Howard from Israel – 16 May 2024 (8/10)

Very spacious, plenty of storage, washer/dryer, useful kitchen, nice check-in, very comfortable bed. Amazing location, close walking distance to most sites. There is an elevator, no steps needed. The check-in person was kind enough to wait for us despite our arrival outside their usual reception hours.

What could be improved: Curtains don't totally block out the light, there is a smell of stale cigarettes despite it being a non-smoking property. To be fair, we requested that there be no scented air fresheners used, that might have otherwise helped. The hot water in the shower goes cold for about 15 seconds once every couple of minutes. There are renovations currently being done on another part of the building, so you can hear occasional drilling (sometimes between 7:00-8:00 AM.)
