Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about this place? Walking up to V Kolkovně street, you’re basically stepping into a Prague postcard – but the kind where actual people live, not just the tourist trap version. This antique glam apartment sits right in the thick of Old Town, and I mean literally a three-minute stumble from the Astronomical Clock (which, honestly, you’ll hear chiming every hour, but it becomes oddly comforting after the first night).

The apartment itself is this fascinating mix of old-world Prague charm and someone who actually knows how to make a space livable. The antique touches feel authentic – not like they raided a furniture warehouse and slapped “vintage” stickers on everything. I’m talking original hardwood floors that creak in all the right places, high ceilings that make you feel like you’re living in a Habsburg-era novel, and these gorgeous tall windows that flood the place with light during those long Central European summer days. The glam part shows up in the details – maybe it’s the carefully chosen lighting or the way they’ve mixed textures, but it feels more like staying in a stylish friend’s place than a sterile rental.

What really won me over, though, is how they’ve nailed the practical stuff without ruining the atmosphere. The kitchen actually has proper counter space (you’d be amazed how rare that is in these historic buildings), and the Wi-Fi doesn’t crap out every time someone in the neighboring apartment turns on their microwave. Plus, apartment 5 means you’re not dealing with ground-floor street noise – V Kolkovně can get pretty lively, especially on weekends when locals hit up the pubs nearby. Speaking of which, you’re about a two-minute walk from some genuinely good spots that aren’t just serving overpriced goulash to tourists. The whole Josefov area is right there, and if you want to escape the crowds, just head toward Kampa Island – it’s an easy walk and feels like a different world.

The 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not trying to be a luxury hotel (it’s a 3-star place, after all), but everything just works the way it should. Check-in was smooth, the space was spotless, and honestly, the location alone justifies the stay. I mean, you’re in the heart of Prague’s most historic district, but you’re not paying those insane hotel rates, and you’ve got actual space to spread out your stuff and live a little. The only minor thing – and this is really nitpicking – is that the building entrance can be a bit tricky to find the first time, especially if you arrive after dark. But once you know where it is, you’ll feel like you’ve discovered this perfect little secret right in the middle of everything that matters in Prague.

Reviews

  • Laura from United Kingdom – 14 December 2024 (10/10)

Apartment was beautiful, very clean, and perfect location for exploring Prague.

What could be improved: A double duvet should be provided for a double bed rather that 2 single duvets

  • Sue from Australia – 17 April 2022 (9/10)

Very clean new apartment with an elegant design.

What could be improved: The street noise at night was loud at times until early hours due to the nightclubs below. There was a washing machine but nowhere to hang wet clothes.

  • Charisathan from Cyprus – 8 December 2023 (9/10)

Nice huge apartment with perfect location

What could be improved: There is no lift

  • Stephan from Netherlands – 24 April 2024 (7/10)

The apartment is beautiful and very chique, it will make you feel like a king/queen. Upon entering there is a bottle of water waiting for you, which I thought was very welcoming (there is even an umbrella). The cutlery and (wine)glasses fit perfectly with the interior design. The pillows are of good, strong, quality, and the communication with the host is swift and fast. The location of the apartment is in the middle of the old town, with bars/clubs in the same street (there is some streetnoice in the weekend, but not too bad).

What could be improved: One thing I didn’t like was that the bed, which was a doublebed/bed for two, was only made for one person. Which struck me as very weird, and I’ve never encountered elsewhere. The same goes for the towels, there were only two, even though I was staying for five nights. Apparently there is an option to order more (for which you will have to pay extra), but this wasn’t clear when I filled in the form on booking.com.

Though not something I disliked, it is good to know that there is no elevator in the building, so
be prepared to walk a couple of stairs.

  • Roman from Italy – 2 August 2024 (7/10)

    Location is great.
There is coffee machine with 2 capsules and water.
    Clean and nice in general.

What could be improved: The touch of design is a bit pretentious with little taste.
washing basing and tap are beautiful but not really functional.
If you have luggage you better search another apartment, it is on 3rd floor without lift.

  • Mijungyeo from Czech Republic – 22 March 2023 (5/10)

What could be improved: 1. the host haven't mentioned where is the key for the main gate. I've got the code only for the room so I was not able to get in the apartment during 30 minutes…..
    2. During the confused situation, the host did not pick up the phone, no message, nothig.
I just waiting for the outside and called to booking.com.
    3. bathroom and toilet
The bathroom is surrounded by glass, so you can see everything inside,,, even toilet….
I was too embarrassed to use the toilet and bathroom…..

  • Rakel from Iceland – 16 December 2024 (10/10)

Eins og myndir sýna, frábær staðsetning. En er á 4.hæð en engin lyfta.

What could be improved: Stigagangurinn er subbulegur

  • Monica from Italy – 28 November 2024 (10/10)

Ambiente ultra confortevole e posizione ottima

What could be improved: Il fatto che chiedono di caricare la biancheria in lavatrice

  • Michał from Poland – 29 August 2024 (10/10)

  • Binietcap from France – 10 May 2024 (8/10)
