Ametyst Hotel Praha Overview

You know what struck me first about the Ametyst Hotel Praha? The location on Jana Masaryka street puts you right in Vinohrady – honestly one of Prague’s best-kept secrets if you want to feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just passing through. I mean, you’re about a ten-minute tram ride from the Old Town chaos, but when you step outside the hotel, you’re surrounded by these gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings and locals grabbing coffee at sidewalk cafes instead of tourist traps selling overpriced goulash.

The hotel itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciated – it’s a solid 4-star place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or whatever. The rooms are what you’d expect for the rating (clean, comfortable, decent-sized by European standards), though I’ll be honest, the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty on the upper floors. What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night – Vinohrady isn’t exactly a party district, so you’ll actually sleep well here. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Wenceslas Square, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the metro – he mentioned that the 11 tram stops right outside and takes you through some beautiful parts of the city you’d miss underground.

Here’s the thing about staying in this area – you’re close enough to hit all the major sights (Charles Bridge is maybe 20 minutes away), but you’re also walking distance from Náměstí Míru with its gorgeous church and that little park where locals actually hang out. There’s a Tesco just down the street for snacks and necessities, plus some really solid restaurants that aren’t mentioned in every guidebook. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s reliable, well-located, and the kind of place where you can actually relax after a day of sightseeing. Just don’t expect luxury amenities or a concierge who can work miracles, and you’ll leave pretty satisfied.

Apartments in Prague provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Czech culinary traditions.

  • Tommaso from Netherlands – 14 September 2023 (8/10)

nice, quiet and small room – perfect for solo traveler. bathroom was spacious and clean. breakfast is nice: plenty of salty options, very tasty.

What could be improved: the main switch did not work. the handles in the bathroom were too high. Cappuccino and coffee done with automatic machines, they could be better.

  • William from United States – 12 August 2023 (9/10)

Location was a bit far but actually this allowed me to get to know other parts of the city. Plus the night time was very quiet for sleeping. The staff was friendly and courteous

What could be improved: Air conditioning didn’t blow cool air but this wasn’t an issue because the weather was nice and cool. Hopefully the maintenance staff can repair this before the next guess arrives on a hot day.

  • Noam from Israel – 12 August 2023 (8/10)

Breakfast was nice. Location is not so central. Very clean and friendly staff.

What could be improved: The single room is quite small.
