Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in Prague’s New Town, and the Amarilis on Štěpánská really gets it right in ways that surprised me. You know what I mean – sometimes these 4-star places try too hard and end up feeling sterile, but this one actually feels like someone thought about what travelers need.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without the tourist circus. Štěpánská is this busy street that locals use to cut between Wenceslas Square and the quieter residential areas, so you’re getting real Prague energy outside your window (though honestly, bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper – it’s a proper city street). But here’s the thing that sold me: you can walk to the main sights in like ten minutes, but you’re also a two-minute stroll from some fantastic neighborhood pubs and that little farmers market on Náměstí Míru on Saturdays. The staff seemed to actually know the area too – when I asked about dinner spots, the guy at reception steered me away from the tourist traps and toward this incredible traditional place on Londýnská that I never would’ve found otherwise.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep some character while still being properly comfortable. The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, this is central Prague, what do you expect – but they’re thoughtfully laid out with decent storage and these surprisingly good blackout curtains. The bathroom was one of those compact European setups, but well-designed, you know? Hot water was consistent, which honestly isn’t always a given in older Prague buildings. The breakfast situation was better than I expected too – not just the usual continental spread, but they had some local touches and the coffee was actually drinkable (small victories, right?). Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving super late since it’s not one of those big chain operations with 24-hour everything.
I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the whole vibe was relaxed – not overrun with tour groups, just a nice mix of business travelers and people like me who wanted to explore the city properly. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point in this neighborhood. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but it delivers on the fundamentals while keeping that local feel that’s getting harder to find. If you’re the kind of traveler who wants a solid base to explore from rather than a resort experience, the Amarilis definitely delivers.

the breakfast is AMAZING!!!!! the staff is great, helpful and very nice. super clean.
What could be improved: a bit noisy as it gives directly to a busy street so light sleepers beware. although no problem if you have earplugs.Marc from United Kingdom – 20 March 2025 (9/10)
Good location close to Wenceslas square. Great view from the terrace on the roof. Friendly staff who went out of their way to help. The Chinese across the street is banging.

The hotel was comfortable and the staff were excellent. We hadn't expected such a good spa as well. It was a wonderful get-away for Valentine's Day. The breakfast was also comprehensive; it had everything we would have wanted and it filled us up nicely for the day.
The location couldn't have been better either, especially for the price. A couple minutes' walk separated us from Wenceslas Square, the main square in front of the Museum. The hotel is also well-connected by public transport. Across the way there is a relatively cheap mini mart (a blessing considering so many others are extortionate).
We would certainly stay here again.
What could be improved: I found the bed a little hard, not that it prevented me from sleeping. There are also no plugs by the bed, at least in our room. The floors are carpeted and some old stains were discernable, which is why linoleum or wood feels more hygienic. But these really are small things. For a weekend get-away, it probably doesn't even matter.Jenny from United Kingdom – 15 February 2025 (9/10)

Everything was great!
We arrived really early the 1st morning, but our room was ready so we could enter our room and then have breakfast.
Breakfast buffet was one of the best I have experienced; well furnished until the end, with fresh vegetable and fruit, tasty bread, good coffee, eggs and bacon… We spent the weekend to celebrate my best friend's birthday, so on that morning the staff brought us a bottle of prosecco with compliments of the hotel!
The hotel has a small spa that you can privatize, great value for money and so relaxing! They also propose massages, we had some and they were very good and professional.
Our room was really pretty and beds are extra comfortable. We had a beautiful view from our balcony – and by the way I think we were upgraded to that room because when booking the hotel I saw those balcony rooms but they were more expensive.
Friendly and prompt service from the reception desk, and the nicest lady called Gisela. Thank you very much!
I will certainly book this hotel again if traveling to Prague!
