You know what struck me first about the Alton? It’s tucked on Legerova street in a way that feels properly Prague – not hiding, but not shouting for attention either. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but somehow you’ve escaped all that tourist chaos. The building itself has this understated charm that honestly surprised me for a 3-star place.

The lobby’s got character without trying too hard – sort of that Central European elegance that doesn’t feel stuffy. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (the staff actually seem to enjoy their jobs, which isn’t always a given in Prague’s hotel scene). What really won me over, though, was how quiet it gets at night. Legerova can have some traffic during the day, but by evening it settles down nicely. I stayed on the third floor and slept better than I expected – those old Prague buildings with their thick walls definitely have their advantages.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture – you’re positioned perfectly between the New Town buzz and some genuinely local neighborhoods. Walk ten minutes toward IP Pavlova and you’ll find yourself in areas where actual Praguers live and eat, away from the tourist trail. The nearby Folimanka Park is this lovely little escape that most visitors never discover, and there’s a fantastic traditional pub called U Fleku about fifteen minutes away that’s been brewing beer since 1499 (yes, really). Honestly, staying here made me feel less like a tourist and more like someone who was just visiting Prague properly. The rooms aren’t fancy – we’re talking solid 3-star comfort – but everything works, it’s clean, and there are thoughtful touches like decent lighting for reading and outlets where you actually need them. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, the shower has proper water pressure. After walking Prague’s cobblestones all day, that’s basically luxury.
