Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to the Almanac X Alcron Prague on Štěpánská Street – the entrance is surprisingly understated for a five-star place, tucked between other buildings in New Town. But step inside and wow, they’ve really done something special with this historic space. The lobby has this perfect blend of Art Deco glamour (the building dates back to the 1930s) and contemporary Czech design that doesn’t feel forced or trying too hard.

What I love about this location is that you’re actually in the thick of things without the tourist chaos. Štěpánská is one of those streets that locals use to cut between Wenceslas Square and the quieter parts of New Town, so you get this authentic Prague energy right outside your door. The Metro station at Muzeum is maybe a three-minute walk, and you know what? You can easily stroll to Old Town Square in about ten minutes if you take the route through the Franciscan Garden – most visitors don’t even know that little green oasis exists. The hotel staff seem to genuinely get this too; they’ll point you toward the good coffee spots on Národní Street instead of the overpriced tourist traps.

The rooms themselves feel substantial in a way that a lot of modern hotels miss. I mean, the ceilings are high enough that you don’t feel boxed in, and the windows actually open (rare in Prague hotels these days). The bathrooms are legitimately spacious – not just “European spacious” where you can barely turn around. I stayed during a busy summer week and barely heard any street noise, which is impressive given how central you are. Check-in was refreshingly efficient without that overly rehearsed luxury hotel performance some places put on. The restaurant downstairs, La Rotonde, is worth mentioning because it’s not just hotel food – locals actually eat there, especially for business lunches. That 9.2 rating makes total sense when you add up all these little details that show they’re paying attention to what travelers actually want rather than just checking boxes on some luxury hotel checklist.

Visitors often choose Prague apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Bohemian capital.

  We simply loved everything
  the hotel, the location, the staff who were available for everything and really gave the feeling that the guests vacation and feelings are essential for them, the cleanliness which was especially clean, the breakfast was excellent

  The hotel is just lovely, a great location to be able to walk to all the sights whilst being super close to some brilliant bars and restaurants. The room was lovely and modern, super clean and the beds were really comfy!
  The hotel staff were SO nice! Offering a welcome prosecco upon arrival, sorting our transfers as well as being consistently friendly and welcoming throughout our whole stay. I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough!
