Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Alfons Boutique Hotel? The fact that it sits right on Legerova Street without feeling like you’re sleeping next to a main road. I mean, Legerova can get pretty busy during the day – it’s one of those streets that actually goes somewhere in Prague – but somehow the hotel manages to feel tucked away from all that chaos.

The building itself has this quietly elegant thing going on that’s honestly refreshing after seeing so many Prague hotels trying way too hard with the whole “medieval castle” vibe. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Gothic archway as much as anyone, but sometimes you just want clean lines and rooms that feel like they belong in this century. The lobby’s got these subtle art pieces that change seasonally (the owner mentioned they work with local artists, which is pretty cool), and there’s this gorgeous old wooden staircase that somehow survived whatever renovations happened over the years. Check-in was smooth – they actually remembered I’d mentioned arriving late when I booked, which never happens anymore.

What really sold me on this place, though, was the location knowledge the staff had. The guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward Wenceslas Square like most hotels do – he actually drew me a little map showing how to cut through the side streets to avoid the tourist crowds, and mentioned that the tram stop on Ječná (just a three-minute walk) connects you to basically everywhere without dealing with the metro construction mess that’s been going on near Muzeum station. Plus, you’re legitimately close to some fantastic local spots that most visitors never find – there’s this little wine bar called Vinárna U Fleku that’s hidden in a courtyard about five minutes away, and honestly the best goulash I had in Prague was at a tiny place the concierge recommended just around the corner on Korunní.

The rooms themselves feel bigger than they probably are – something about the way they’ve arranged the furniture and used mirrors, I think. Mine had these heavy curtains that actually blocked out the morning light (miracle in a city where most hotel curtains are basically decorative), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being attacked by angry water droplets. Small thing, but the WiFi was fast enough that I could actually video call home without wanting to throw my laptop out the window. The bed was firm in that good European way – not the marshmallow situation you get at a lot of international chains.

Look, Prague’s got roughly a million places to stay, and plenty of them are perfectly fine. But there’s something about Alfons that feels… intentional, I guess? Like someone actually thought about what travelers need instead of just checking boxes. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything just works the way it should. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates being near the action without being in the middle of it, and you want a place run by people who clearly give a damn about what they’re doing, this should definitely be on your list.

Everything was perfect! The apartment with 2 rooms that we booked was so beautiful, we had everything we needed and it was warm and cozy. The breakfast was our favourite 😊 Everything was so delicious. The staff also surprised my brother in-law as they knew that it was his birthday. We really appreciated it. All the staff were so nice. We will surely recommend this beautiful hotel!

  • Keyte from United Kingdom – 1 April 2025 (10/10)

Hotel is fantastically furnished and is stunning. The room was big, open, light and a high quality. The doors open for you and you walk through a polished stone floor to a classic staircase. The building I assume was a former apartment block, refurbished into a modern classic hotel. The rooms, decor and art work are amazing.

Showers had plenty of pressure, really hot and our balcony was lovely to enjoy a drink overlooking the boulevard.

Location is brilliant, a short walk to the underground and bus stops etc.

Staff were helpful, and even when closed the reception desk were contactable via phone.

What could be improved: Coffee machine in the room was chargeable, pod machine. I thought this was interesting due to price and quality of the hotel. I understand drinks from mini bar etc, however if tea is free .. why are small coffees chargeable?

  • Lois from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (10/10)

Staff were extremely helpful and engaging, good choice for breakfast, excellent position.

What could be improved: Hard to find fault.

  • Merle from Estonia – 29 March 2025 (9/10)

Super breakfast! Nice room. No lobby but its not a problem if you plan to spend most of the time outside the hotel.

  • Johanna from Ireland – 19 March 2025 (9/10)

Great location, sparkling clean hotel, lovely staff.

What could be improved: It would be nice if there was a kettle in the room but that's a very small complaint.

  • Rachelle from United Kingdom – 12 March 2025 (10/10)

The beds and pillows were amazing, the room was very luxurious and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: Other guests talking outside our room!!

  • Joshua from United Kingdom – 9 March 2025 (9/10)

  • Viktor from Hong Kong – 4 March 2025 (10/10)

The room was spacious, clean and equipped with fridge, coffee machine (you have to pay for the coffee unfortunately).
The location is perfect. Close to tube station I.P.Pavlova.
Breakfast offers is satisfying and you find the meal which you like.

What could be improved: Nothing major which I "didn`t like".
