What I loved is that despite being on Wenceslas Square, the rooms facing the courtyard are surprisingly quiet. The street-facing ones… well, there’s definitely some buzz, especially on weekends when the square gets lively. But honestly? That energy is part of the Prague experience.

The rooms themselves feel properly European – not huge by American standards, but everything’s well thought out. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not a given in historic buildings), and the bathrooms are modern without feeling like they were just slapped in yesterday. I stayed on the fourth floor and the elevator is one of those charmingly old-fashioned ones that takes its sweet time, but the hallways have these gorgeous high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re in a building with some serious history. The staff speaks excellent English, which – let’s be real – makes everything smoother, and they genuinely seem to know the neighborhood. When I asked about good beer halls that weren’t total tourist magnets, the guy at the front desk gave me directions to this amazing place just off Narodni Street that I never would have found otherwise.

Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in Prague, and the 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s really good without being perfect. The WiFi works well (crucial for staying connected), breakfast is solid Czech fare plus the usual international options, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels like it belongs in its neighborhood rather than trying to create some bubble experience. Plus, and this matters if you’re planning to explore beyond the city center, you’re incredibly well-connected here. The metro station is right there, trains to the castle district are frequent, and if you want to take day trips to places like Kutná Hora or Český Krumlov, you’re close to the main train station. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Prague, not just visiting it – if that makes sense.
