Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about A1 Royal Plaza? It’s actually way better than you’d expect from a 3-star place on Římská street. I mean, when you’re walking down this fairly busy road in Vinohrady – it’s one of those proper Prague residential areas where locals actually live – you might cruise right past the entrance if you’re not paying attention. But honestly, that’s part of its charm.
The building itself has that solid Central European feel, nothing flashy, but once you’re inside it’s clear someone’s been putting effort into keeping things fresh. The lobby’s got this warm, understated vibe that immediately made me think “okay, this isn’t going to be one of those tourist trap hotels.” What really sold me though was chatting with the front desk staff – they actually knew the neighborhood. Like, when I asked about getting to Wenceslas Square, instead of just pointing me toward the metro, they mentioned I could walk through Riegrovy sady (that’s the park locals love) and make it part of the experience. That’s the kind of insight you don’t get everywhere.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned between the touristy center and real Prague life. Náměstí Míru is just a few minutes walk – and trust me, that square is gorgeous, especially in the evening when the locals are out walking their dogs and the café terraces fill up. The metro connection there gets you anywhere you need to go, but honestly, I found myself walking most places because Vinohrady is just pleasant to wander through. There’s this great little bakery called Eska Bakery about ten minutes away that does incredible bread (go early, they sell out), and if you head toward Jiřího z Poděbrad square, there’s a Saturday farmers market that feels wonderfully un-touristy.
The rooms are what you’d hope for – clean, comfortable, nothing revolutionary but thoughtfully done. Mine faced the street, and while Římská does get some traffic, it’s not the nightmare you might expect. Prague drivers aren’t exactly gentle, but it quiets down nicely after about 10 PM. The bed was actually really good – I’m picky about that stuff – and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that worked properly, which is honestly rarer than it should be. Small thing, but the windows opened wide (very European, love it) so you could get proper fresh air flowing through.
What impressed me most was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about the place. The cleaning was thorough, breakfast had local touches alongside the standard hotel fare, and when I needed to extend my checkout by a few hours, they just said “no problem” without any drama. It’s got an 8.9 rating, and I get it – this is the kind of place that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but executes really well on what it promises. If you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to actual Prague life rather than floating in some tourist bubble, and you don’t need marble everything, A1 Royal Plaza totally delivers.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Prague through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich medieval heritage.

Anna at reception was super friendly and welcoming. She got everything sorted for me like breakfast etc. the room was clean. The breakfast was super tasty (had the pancakes). The location was perfect, right next to the national museum, and a metro station about 2 mins away so it was easy to get to from the airport. Will definitely stay again
